86 12 Brutus
Wouldn't be the first time the MPC is way off base. You should just consider yourselves blessed! Is it any consideration that it may be military spec, and that Brutus is not built like trucks sold to civilians? thats the problem, brutus is a military truck and we run into this alot
86 12 Brutus
thats the problem, brutus is a military truck and we run into this alot but my manifold is the exact same thing that i took off the truck. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Exhaust-Manifold-1984-1985-1986-FORD-F150-F250-F350-Pickup-4-9L-300-6-cy/123594418540?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649
ArdWrknTrk
the connector on the manifold is 3/8. the pipe has a strange compression type connector on it and i have no way of connecting it to the manifold. when we took it off the old manifold, the connector broke. the connector on the end of the pipe is still good As a suggestion, maybe look at the compression type connectors that larger air compressors use to connect the copper coil from pump head to the tank. That sort of hardware is pretty common, and seems to be trying to do the same type of thing.

There doesn't seem to be a reason your parts don't show. Like I said, look at Quincy or Ingersoll Rand for the type of fitting you need. Connecting tubing to a cast iron pump head is what they do. But I'm no 300 expert. YMMV

ArdWrknTrk
what do you mean by the death rattle? The knocking you get when you have too much advance dialed in at light throttle. That shockwave is breaking your rings and trying to melt holes in your pistons. EGR makes the engine (under light load) think the mixture is richer than it is, because it displaces oxygen in the intake charge with gases that don't contribute to combustion. The mix burns slower and cooler. You can have advance, without detonation because of the charge reacting supersonically. The charge burns slow enough that it doesn't go BANG before the piston reaches TDC. We all know from chemistry that almost all reactions speed up with temperatures and pressure. Detonation is combustion faster than the speed of sound in that medium. The car companies want lean mixtures for mileage. The EPA wants (wanted?) cooler combustion temperatures, because they decrease oxides of nitrogen. The customer wants an engine that isn't suicidal. Win, win, win! Win, win, win! yea i looked into how to recurve a distributor, no way i'm fooling with that. Honestly, i wish i could put a duraspark distributor in it with a regular yf carb and get rid of all of he stuff, but a duraspark dist wont fit so thts out the window too. I'm going to look around and see what i can find for compression fittings, thing is is i really dont know what size it is. I think i'm just going to take it off and see if my friend at the machine shop can do anything
