1984 F-150 Wiring Harness Question

Recommended Posts

Going through my "new to me" F-150

Checking all the fuses (1 burned out) and cleaning all the wiring terminals in the engine compartment.

I was having a slow starter issue but cleaning the neg cables to the starter and battery seems to have fixed that.

On the inside I get no dash lights at all. I am going to remove the dash to see whats up back there.

In the meantime I found these hanging out behind the glove box. One 4 prong was connected the rest were hanging free. I am looking through the diagrams to see what these are but if anyone knows off the top of their head what they are that would be great. The plug that was connected is the solo one on the left of the glove box . Maybe a radio connection? No radio is installed yet.

From what I learned here it looks like I had a feedback carb at one point and I am thinking maybe these are related.

Just changed the oil and filter. Front shocks going in next which does not look too hard.

Thanks!

Josh

I think the first one is for the radio. In the second pic the brown one looks like it's for the key/headlight/seatbelt buzzer. The gray upper left looks like its for the EEC relay. The gray lower right I don't recognize. It's probably for optional equipment.

That's my off-the-top-of my head take.

The connector containing the blue/red wire is radio power, the bulb with the blue cover should be illuminating your ashtray, and the connector furthest to the left looks like the connector for the buzzer, but I can't see it very well.

Or, I could be totally wrong.

You're right. The connector to the far left is for the buzzer.

Thanks for the guidance! I want to clean up all unnecessary wires as much as I can. Looks like I have a date with my testing light. :nabble_smiley_beam:

You will have plugs for under dash lights, right door light switch and clock IIRC all up in there.
