Weatherstrip screws for Bronco?

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

I’m getting ready to reattach my top to my 84 Bronco XLT. I am reusing the weatherstrip on the left and right that go under the top along the bed rails. It looks like it needs to be screwed on and glued to the bottom. Does anyone know what screws to use to attach the weatherstrip to the bottom of the fiberglass top?

Thanks

Why would they use screws & glue it?

Do you see screw holes on the roof and the old seal?

Wouldn't the screw heads then hit the bed rails and keep the seal from sealing?

I think I would just glue it onto the roof.

When I was young and dumb I had 1 4x4 that the roof could be removed and it leaked after that.

Much older I bought new a truck you could remove the roof but I never did as I did not want it to leak.

It also had carpet where the first did not.

That's just me

I would have thought the same but the weatherstrip has holes in it at either end and the only post I could find on google about how to install it said it gets screwed on and glued. I don’t have the top here so I can’t look at the holes or test fit it. I’m going to the shop on Thursday to pick it up and reinstall it. They removed it to paint it a while back and don’t know how to get it back on. I’ve got everything I need except for instructions on how to install those to pieces of weatherstrip on the bottom of the sides (and potentially the right fasteners...)

Here's all I can find from the MPC:
