1983/84 DK Harbor Blue - correct shade of blue PARTIALLY solved. Need Carpet code

Recommended Posts

I have decided to put carpet in my truck to replace the original rubber flooring. I just can't save it - too many cracks. I can't figure out which shade of blue is correct as there are a handful of options from ACC.

Here's a reference photo of a nice '84 F150. This interior looks like mine, but I don't know what color blue that carpet is??

I have the plastics and dash color down. I have ordered a quart of SEM color coat in Dark Harbor Blue - code 3042. I strongly recommend doing this and not purchasing cans of paint. It's far more economical to buy a quart if you are going to redo the entire interior. The Preval sprayer works great!!

Can anybody help me figure out which blue is correct for my truck??

ACC 7879 Blue

ACC 8082 Crystal Blue

ACC 9304 Regatta Blue

The Dark Harbor Blue looks great! My interior is the same color, so I hope to try that color of SEM at some point and time.

Sorry, can't help with the carpet, but I'll be following along as I'd like to order some carpet myself, and I need to know which color to order.

Glad to know the color worked out great on the plastic.

On the carpet, I'm confused. Below is what I see on their site for the optional colors for a 1980-1986 Ford Full Size Truck, Standard Cab Carpet, 2 WD 4 Speed. And I don't see any of the #'s you listed.

But, I do see "If you are not 100% certain of the correct color, please allow us to send you samples by clicking here." So I'd get samples from them. And then you can tell us what the right color is!

I will also add that I spent a LONG time trying to find a local source to get this paint. I even went to NAPA with some original color samples from my truck to get a custom paint match and even though they had the technology, they could not help me. It was frustrating.

I called Vinyl Pro, and a guy named "Tino" answered the phone and I could not have been more impressed with the service and helpful information I received. I had forgotten what good customer service felt like, as it's been so long!

I called on Wed and in 3-4 days they had made up a custom batch for me, packaged it up with other supplies I needed like prep and sprayer and it was at my door on Saturday! Pricing was very reasonable. I can't recommend it enough.

This SEM color coat comes READY TO SPRAY. No straining, no reducing, no additive, nothing. Dump in preval jar and start spraying. This couldn't be easier. I bought several other cans of various product trying to do this the hard way and I was wasting my time and money.

The Duplicolor Medium Blue is a joke. The cap on the can looks very good and extremely close to what I needed. What came out of the can was far from it. I took it back to get another can thinking I got a bad one, but the result was the same. Garbage. SEM Dark Shadow Blue is not even close, either. See below test sprays.

Troy - That's bizarre! Two different sets of #'s from their own site. The snag on the left is from your link for an '83. The snag on the right is from my link for any Bullnose. And in both cases I've selected Cut Pile.

If it was me, I'd send them an email now explaining what the problem is and giving them a permalink to this thread. Then I'd be on the phone on Tuesday to follow up. To me, we are trying to help them understand that their website has a problem.

And, while on, I'd order a set of samples of various blue carpets.

A few weeks ago someone asked for a recommendation of someone who would mix the SEM paints and ship them. I did some sleuthing and called several outfits, all but one of which said "We don't do that." The one was Vinyl Pro.

I spoke with Robin there, and she said they certainly do that so I added a link to them on our page on interior paints. And she volunteered to look at our site. I sent a link to that page to her and asked that she take a look and correct it if wrong. She sent this note back:

So I'm glad you had a great experience as well. We need to share this info 'cause it makes a huge difference when you get that kind of service.

When I order, which will be soon, I'll order from them and I'll get the Preval sprayer. Thanks for the tip!

Gary, your link was from Stock Interiors (retailer) - not ACC. (:

You are RIGHT! Good catch. My bad. :nabble_smiley_blush:

But I think I remember having gotten carpet samples from ACC directly. So, I'd check with them.

Also, Stock Interiors is a reseller/retailer of ACC, so why would they have different #'s for the colors if they are selling ACC carpet.

If ACC can't help perhaps Stock Interiors can?

Ordered some samples. Curious if anybody has ordered the ESSEX cut pile with mass backing. I'm concerned with getting the carpet to fit under the door sill contours.
