Yes! As Jonathan says, "Please share!"

A late reply is better than no reply, correct?

Here is how I solved my hydro boost challenge. I used the power steering pump from a '78 era Ford LTD, Lincoln Mark or Mercury Grand Marquis. These saginaw pumps had the second return line plumbed into them. This is all part of my transition to a serpentine belt, saginaw pump, 3G alternator.

Let me know if you have any questions. After two years I'm now ready to fire this engine up and try out all the changes I've made.

I suppose the first question everyone is going to have is where did you buy that pump. Well it's a remanufactured pump that I bought from Rockauto however when I searched the part number just now, I found the part was "out of stock" but it didn't say discontinued. The pump is an Atsco #6002 for anyone interested.

Well done, Alfie! I'm in the middle of Big Blue's transformation and am going hydroboost. I have the Saginaw pump, but am wondering what hoses you used?

For the hoses I bought the 1988 Superduty hoses that went along with the hydro boost unit. They matched up to the unit and the steering gear but not the pump. I cut the manufactured pump fitting off and got a new fitting from a local pressure hose shop we use at work. With loose fitting I was able to line up the angle I wanted to keep the hose square and I marked the hose and fitting. I took the pieces back to the shop and had them crimp the new hose end on and all is well. Check out the photos.....

That's what I expected - that the hoses from that application wouldn't be quite right.

However, in my case I'm using the pump and hydroboost unit from a 1995 SuperDuty, so am hoping that those hoses will fit correctly.

Anyway, thanks. If I have to have something made I can use your approach.

Gary, if you are running the C2 pump the F-Superduty hoses work. If you are running the Saginaw then the pump to booster pressure hose will have the wrong end. You can have a hose shop make one, but I’m almost positive that the Chevy 6.2 diesel 1-ton hose will work as-is. Only thing is whether the the bends in the hard line will clear the ham can reservoir the same as it does on the remote reservoir. (Should be the same unless the pump orientation is wildly different). The hard line on the booster is on the opposite side, but it looks to be the same booster. Pics below are from a 1986 Chevy K30 dual rear wheel 6.2 diesel.

Jonathan - I'm confused and conflicted. I thought the stuff I got from Jim included a Saginaw pump, but now I'm not sure. I'll need to go look.

Anyway, whatever pump it came with is probably the one I'm going to use since I've powder coated the bracket for that pump and I don't think the C2 and Sag use the same bracket.

And, while he had to cut some hoses, I'm thinking I can just go back with hoses for that application. Right?

Gary, you are correct, the C2 and Saginaw brackets are different.

This is the one from the 1995 F450/SuperDuty Jim got parts off of for you and I. But I don't remember what pump it had on it. I've got it in a tote in the shop and will look in the morning, for sure.

I've been thinking it is a Saginaw, but don't know that it really is. :nabble_anim_confused:
