Probably a lot out there just a tad imbalanced and not making a bit of a difference. Didn't even think about the 81 on Gary's and not being a 460 that year. Good catch Jim. Interesting. The engineering number is just the year division and model line the part was originally designed for. If there was no 460 in a truck that year it must have been intended for another model. But! That number will continue to be used with various revision suffixes on other models. I tried to explain this to invisible man the other day when he said the 351 in his Bronco came from a '73(?)
