scbill Posted April 25, 2020 Share Posted April 25, 2020 Did a search on AOD noise,etc with no results. 1983 4.9/AOD, There is a whine at idle, and til you get to about 20/25 MPH, changed fluid thinking maybe clogged filter, no change. I had a late 60s Dodge that had the same noise, did a filter/fluid change to solve. I was told maybe pump, or converter. Knowing then what I know now, I would have attempted to repair/replace it while the engine was out. Truck was not derivable when I bought it so, I was not aware of this problem.
