Abletobecain
Hello all, I've been diving deep through all of the amazing documents on this forum and I came across the vin decoding section. From what I can tell my truck was originally a 4wd but it's definitely not now. If it really was, the PO must have replaced the carpet too cause there's no hole for the shifter. Seems like an awful lot of work just to lose 4wd. Maybe I'm reading it wrong? Any help would be appreciated. VIN: 1FTHX261GKB59882 Thanks!
grumpin
Interesting, X26 is a super cab 4wd. Edit: the year doesn’t lineup. Looks to me like a number or letter are missing.
Rembrant
VIN: 1FTHX261GKB59882 Looks like you are missing a digit. The VIN should be 17 digits. The 1 after the 6 is supposed to be a capital I. It looks like the Check Digit is missing between the I and the G. Are you sure the X26 is not X25? Check the title, the windshield VIN tag, and the Certification label on the cab inside the driver's door by the striker post. 1FTHX26I_GKB59882 1FT - FoMoCo USA H - GVWR 9001-10,000 lbs. X26 - F250 4X4 Supercab (Check to see if it is X25) I - 6.9 Diesel _ - Blank...should be a digit here? G - 1986 Model year K - Built at Kansas City manufacturing plant B59882 - Sequential serial number.
ArdWrknTrk
Oooooh You have a '77 R/100! I had a '77 R/75 that ended up with a 1050 kit, Titanium valves, springs and keepers, lightened clutch & flywheel, Wudo cam, electronic ignition, PHM 38's off my 900ss, a dual disc 18" front wheel, Telefix, 'S' fairing, Daytona touring bars and a billet triple tree. (too much other stuff to mention)

Next question is has the cab ever been replaced with a used one somewhere in the truck's life? VIN definitely decodes as an F250 SuperCab 4x4. Turns out I had it written down wrong or the PO sent it to me wrong. I read the VIN off of the truck directly this morning and it is: 1FTHX25I5GKB59882 I was confused there for a minute. Thanks again!

There's more info on there if you're the curious sort for details.

I haven't yet but I will be soon. So many projects going on with my Tercels and moving that I haven't gotten to spend much time on the truck yet.
