WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Recommended Posts

Is the garage warm enough to get the Velcro to stick?

On the tranny, what's the latest plan, Stan? I got lost.

Yes it is warm here, hate to say because you have that nasty cold/sleet/snow it is 73* at this time. Rain to come in later tonight but just had to bring the cat in as it was sprinkling.

Going to do my weekly trash run then get on the Velcro job LOL

I am waiting for the seller to get back with measurements.

He gave me a measurement of 14" and I had 31" & 25" (face of bell to tail housing & face of trany to tail housing) need at least the trany face to tail to see if close.

Once I know that and recheck if slip yoke and what other parts he has we can talk price and then when to drive out to GA to get it.

It is a 6+ hour drive 1 way, wife wants to come and hope to meet up with family out there so we need to line up sitter for the fur kids.

My local FTE chapter found a ZF5 for $350 about 2+ hours away but looked to be 92> as I did not see a hole for the speedo and it was just the transmission with shift so would need to come up with everything else.

Nothing since I had to work. And I have one more day tomorrow. But after that I'm off from work for two weeks (paid) and I am gonna spend it junkyarding and crossing things off my list of things to do on the F350. :nabble_anim_jump:

The Maddox one I have at work gets relentlessly beat on with Milwakuee impacts and oxy trches, so you should be ok.

I ended up sick all weekend so didn't get much done to the truck. I did get all the bulbs on my new gauge cluster swapped out with LEDs though. Still have to reset the odometer, reinstall the voltmeter when it comes back from being modified, and test the LEDs to make sure I have them in the right direction.

Goal this week is to find an aftermarket oil filler cap/breather that works with the stock valve covers.

Pittsburg. And it is sprung but still works. I'm hoping the Maddox is stronger.

At least the package is substantially heavier (and I don't see where else it could come from)

So I hope I'm covered for next week when I have to do all this -without air, in the mud-

My tie rod ends don't seem to shift with the steering unlocked and those wheels in the air.

If I weren't scrounging, I'd replace them and the drag/center link too.

Right now I think I've got all the soft/small parts

Hub seals

Diff seals

D44 universals (3)

Pinion seal

Upper and lower ball joints

Pivot bushings

Rear of spring bushings

Front shackles and bushings

Shocks

New bolts

New rub pads for springs

Tools:

Spindle puller

Ball joint press

Jack stands

Pitman arm puller

BFH

32" breaker bar

Pickle fork

Prybars

Consumables:

Gear oil

RTV

Rags

Mineral spirits

Threadlocker

Ospho

Primer & paint

What am I missing?

What size is the pinion nut on a D44 HD?

I got a NOS OEM breather through U-Hauls eBay storefront.

It's called Utechcenter or something like that.

They have warehouses full of oem going back to the '70's

Great place to look for those original parts.
