WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Recommended Posts

Moin Jungs. I was busy with moving house the last couple months and didn’t have the time to follow here. The truck was actually a big help during the move and is now with clearing the garden, somehow a bit of payback time.

Getting back to normality I was able to check the brake system of my truck today and get the air out. What a difference now with a pressure point at half of the pedal way. Next check will be the coolant leakage. The ole problem is back. Other then that the truck is great.

One surprise though: I expected the bolts and nuts to be in inches but I find a mixture of inch and metric. Is that normal for a 1986 US truck?6FCCF139-3B3B-4134-A9B0-0545DB752AE2.jpeg

Jochen - Hello! Looks like your truck's doing you well. :nabble_smiley_good:

As for the fasteners, Jim is right - things are a mix. But one of my favorites is the A/C compressor - some metric and some SAE fasteners to hold it on. :nabble_anim_confused:

WHYDTYTT? Media blasted and powder coated some of its parts.

And fantasized about a potential stable-mate, a somewhat-expensive Bronco. :nabble_smiley_evil: My son thinks a Raptor would be better. But there are thousands of Raptors, but only one of those Broncos. Wow, what a head-turner!

About $30K, as the rest is about what you'd pay for a well decked-out Bronco. And, that's about what Big Blackie sold for, meaning you can pick a really nice one up for that.

So, I'll just look at the web page and drool. :nabble_smiley_oh_no:

Coffee good? Up early? :nabble_anim_handshake:

The coffee is GREAT! Verona, my fav.

Not up all that early. When our son takes our 4 year-old granddaughter to school they sometimes call at 6:33. So I woke up just prior to take the call. But, they didn't call. :nabble_smiley_sad:

I also got up to watch the Winter Weather Advisory unveil. Yesterday we hit 70, but it is now 32, drizzling, and the temp is headed south. The roof to the shop looks like glass, but the street must just be wet as the folks going to work don't seem to be creeping.

Aiken county SC 58 deg cloudy, High around 70.....

Got the caps finished, and installed (Dorman - Help Wheel Cap Screws - 1/4-20 X 3/4 In.) Advance $2.08 per 3 pc set, still gonna beadblast wheels.

FWIW, Had to replace cracked rotor on driver side, whoever did the brakes, put new everything, rotors, pads, etc, also put the shims under the pads that your use when the rotors are turned/resurfaced, not with new rotors.

Some purists will not like the modification to the center cap [Ford oval], but I think it is tastefully done and looks good! :nabble_smiley_good:
