Gary Lewis Posted November 16, 2020 Author Share Posted November 16, 2020 Question for Gary, or anyone that is not electrical challenged, Will this relay be OK to use in the headlight upgrade, the number of pins out is 4 instead of 5, my concern is the tie in of both lights on the power out pin to the lights. It's rated 30amps. There are several different Bosch-style relays, and the 4-pin just eliminates the 87a terminal, which isn't used in the headlight wiring. So you'd use two of those, one for low beam and one for high beam. And even if you ran 100W bulbs you'd only be pulling ~15 amps for two 100w bulbs. I ask because if Bill was interested in that approach - they have those auto reset ATC circuit breakers. They are tall but in a case like this, that won't matter. For example 71176 at del city. That changed with the PDB. Previously I was running one auto-reset breaker for both high and low, but with the PDB I have a fuse on the high beams and an auto-reset breaker for the low beams. I am only running fuses in mine but in certain situations, from a safety standpoint, a circuit breaker could be very beneficial. By splitting the hi/lo circuits in two you are already adding a layer of safety. The del city item I referenced would be 'in addition to' vs 'in replace of' the relays you ordered. It would just be a matter of replacing your fuse with one of them. It's one of those things that I think it's good to consider since someone is going to be in there making changes anyways. I think the dark color of your truck would look good in the tan area for letters. Thing is I don't think that color or close to that color comes in a decal? At first I was looking to paint mine on like the factory did, with a rubber roller, in white to match the white on the truck. Thing was it had to be done after the red went on and if I was to mess up the with the white I may have needed to repaint the red on the gate. That is why I went with decal in white reflective that is close to the white on the truck. Google FORD decal letters to see what colors they came in as I was looking for white reflective. Dave ---- Very simple thing Truck was missing cigarette socket, had a flat plug in the whole but had the 2 wires tucked up underneath, is no t sure if it was removed or never there.
