grumpin
I figured you would be the only one on here to get it. 😁 So, I had to go back and drop a link. Wee Stromers, blame it on GS riders, in the end it's KLR's all the way down. I heard the term when I had my KLR.
ArdWrknTrk
I heard the term when I had my KLR. While technically it's not 'today' (except for you left coasters) is was in the last 24 hours, soooo Safety third! The last of it. THIS was to be the bane of my morning.. What does it take to snap a 9/16 grade 8 like a pretzel stick? Put it on real wet so it soaks in. Then a little top coat.. And voila!

How many pretzels did you snap? It takes a lot to do that to a 9/16's! But, you did get it. Any tricks?

Damn, Jim did that bolt snap in shear, or when you were tightening it? I learned in dealing with fastener tests that the higher strength bolts did not do as well in shear as the lower strength stuff. If it had loosened some then that can also contribute to a shear failure and fatigue failure. One item to be aware of, counterfeit stuff from 3rd world countries and China. For somewhat better usage, but harder to find, ASTM A193? Gr B7, or B16 (these also do better in high heat environments like exhaust manifold bolts). ArdWrknTrk
How many pretzels did you snap? Only one bolt, but we stripped 3 nuts and drove *nuts right through two heavy washers! You'll be glad to know I used your favorite silver goo inside the eye and on the sleeve. But it still didn't want to go. This is SO much easier when you cut the U-bolts and set the spring in a shop press.

It was a spiral fracture, when we were trying to pull the sleeve in.

I was holding with my snap-on ratchet, a 7/8 crowsfoot and a 20" cheater. Mario was using my 36" breaker bar.

I've just come from the yard with 17 80# bags of concrete and 15 waterlogged 2x6 pressure treated... Do the math...
