WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Recommended Posts

Installed a brand NOS speedometer w/tripometer, km/h.

Brand new truck, zero km (after a short ride to the garage for summer tires, has now something around 18km).

:nabble_:

Thanks Gary! Really nice piece I wasn’t able to find for sale!

:nabble_anim_handshake:

I know we can adjust the km, but anyway I do not know Big Brother’s real mileage.

So let’s say it’s a gift for his soon 40 years birthday!

Glad you can use it, Jeff. 👍

As for what I did, I drove Big Blue about 300 miles to Hinton, OK. Reported on it here: https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Big-Blue-s-Sugar-Creek-Loop-Trip-tp151934.html

But this was a good shakedown cruise in prep for the Moab trip. Found a few things that I need to look into, including that the Sony stereo forgets my iPhone but not Janey’s. This one has me baffled, so if anyone has an idea please let me know.

Truck "yard art"...😉😂

It's recycle night on my street, and that R&P is a heavy chunk!

Here's some more pics of the damage done by a 7,000 truck at 70 when something let go. 🤪

7000#. really? my 82 f100 has shipping weight of 3040lbs on the title. that's 3400 with me and a tank of gas . and it drives like its light also.

My 86 f250 2wd weighs in at 4600-4700 empty at the dump with my truck tool box and me in it empty. I suspect Jim must have had a load in the bed.

So the gvwr isn't the actual weight of the truck. I thought my truck was 8800 lbs.

Tare weight 6250.

I have two giant job boxes in the back full of tools.

I know the big one tips #800 when I lift it out with the forklift that has a built in scale.

The other one is around 400, by the fact that I can only lift one end at a time.

You tell me! 👂

ETA, remember how much torque my 460 is making at ~2,800 rpm (70 mph). 🤯

Thats the max weight (loaded)

8,600 is a manufacturer weight rating for compliance.

It's the Goldilocks zone. Above 8,500 for no emissions, and under 9k where most states would make you register as a commercial vehicle.
