WHYDTYTT: What Have You Done To Your Truck Today?

Recommended Posts

Thanks Gary, she drives great now save for the cockeyed steering wheel. Camber and caster still a little off but not terrible.

I am thinking about putting a crossmember in between the drop radius arm brackets too for a bit of stability. I found one online but I think I could make one out of angle iron cheaper, granted it wouldn't be adjustable or as pretty looking, but functional. My 78 and 79 2wds had it from factory, my 90 doesn't. And with the brackets having a 6 inch drop on them I feel like its a little more load than I'd like on the bolts holding it to the frame.

Let us know if that helps. I'd often wondered if it would make a difference. Good luck!

When I bought my 78 F100 it wasn't there. Reinstalling I did notice the frame felt a little stiffer under the cab considering the 2wd steering components were right next to it.

I will definitely let you guys know if it makes a difference.

This isn’t what I’ve done to my truck, but with my truck. And, it isn’t all today. But, the truck is Blue.

We’ve been on vacation for a couple of weeks and have gone to south Florida, Disney World, and Charleston, SC. We’ve delivered a bicycle, roll-top desk, and three totes of dishes and keepsakes to the kids. Plus yesterday we moved a looong sofa to a house where an Afghan family will be living. So the truck has been busy and useful.

But over the last few days it has been making runs to Lowe’s (4 times), local hardware store (2 times), and a new Ace hardware store (1 time) to gather all of the needed bits and pieces to add lighting and outlets in my SiL’s garage.

And today we got the wiring mostly done. The pics below tell the story.

Here’s the added light fixture with a 4’ LED light in it. And the outlets are right above where his workbench will go. But, you’ll see that we somehow wound up one old-work box short so couldn’t quite finish the job.

And here’s the breaker we installed - hot. But we also replaced the one to the right as it would trip if you looked at it wrong, and wouldn’t reset if the outside temp was very high. (Oops, sorry about the orientation.)

That plus replacing a GFCI at our son’s house and correcting the wiring on one here, I feel like it has been an electrician’s vacation. :nabble_smiley_wink:

Good job! Nice you can help like that.

Well, Gary, kind of for Big Brother too.

My friend "carb specialist" came back last weekend, because I had trouble with cold start since the beginning of colder weather this winter. He made quick choke adjustment, but we concluded that my major issue is because Big Brother stays in his garage two to four weeks between each start. One pedal pumping isn't enough, he is missing gas. Now I know that, I pump 4-5 shots before cold start and everything goes well.

:nabble_smiley_beam:

They were announcing a snow storm for today, so Big Brother and I urged to tow the manure trailer yesterday evening, before the snow (when I came back from office, :nabble_smiley_wink:).

The trailer was not balanced (very heavy on the front), Big Bro was pointing a bit to the moon...

Otherwise, this strong guy has driven as if was towing air.

And speaking of vacations, here's a vacation truck for ya gang!

John, this looks as a really strange Frankenstein assembly.

🧐

Looks as if a Ford van towing a boat on a trailer went through a Star Trek teleportation hub, but something went wrong and they fused at the exit.

Similar as «The Fly» movie.

Edit:

Found that they call it a "boaterhome".

The van is fused with the trailer, but the boat is separated.

Why keep it simple when you can do so complicated!
