"Driveworks" is the brand.

-RMS stands for "rear main seal?" If so, I need a location on where that is.

-2wd

-Multi-piece gasket. It's the best Advance had. It's rubber coated cork, which I still don't like, but better than normal cork.

-No clue. Just got the truck with 280k miles. Motor only has <100k probably.

-Pump? Should I? If so, is it easy to access/a cheap part?

-I6, so I guess the nylon cam gear doesn't apply?

I think Driveworks is Advance house brand.

What is their warranty on steering and suspension parts?

Yes, rear main seal.

Your inspection plate is off.

Is there oil seeping down from the back of the crankshaft?

Multi piece means you don't have to pull the oil pan all the way off to install it.

But with that mileage I probably would, just to clean the sump and pickup screen.

And, if you're in that far, a new oil pump at almost 300,000 seems like cheap insurance.

The 300 has a phenolic gear I believe.

These micarta gears wear, but in my experience they don't seem to shred like cheese, leaving a bunch of swarf clogging the pickup screen.

As I said, I'm not the 1-6 expert, but I think this is good advice.

-90 Days or "Limited Lifetime" (whatever that means)(AKA bad)

-I don't think it is leaking. I see no transmission fluid. Just oil on the oil pan.

-I'll clean the sump and pickup screen, but I have to pass on the oil pump (sadly). I'm normally he kind of guy who likes to replace things before they go out, but I have to get Baruch on the road and the money has to stop flowing into him at some point. 6 months from now (after his use as a work truck is on hold until the next season), I will do a complete checkup/repair of him.

Thank you for the advice.

Well understood about the budgetary restraints. :nabble_money-flying-23_orig:

Not transmission fluid, engine oil coming from the back of the block.

But if you think all is dry inside the inspection plate, then no worries.

So, how do you work this truck in the winter months?

What season is coming up for him?

Looks dry. Whew.

I sell vegetable plants in the spring. Hauling 2-3ft plants in my Taurus wagon has become impractical so quickly. I plan on getting a camper shell for him, too, so the plants don't get wind-lashed.

Also I will need him before then to haul potting soil (if I have to grab some extra when "x" number of pallets delivered isn't enough).

That's an interesting side of farming I don't often consider.

There used to be lots of greenhouses/hot houses up near my brother's.

They've all fallen into disrepair or been sold off for subdivisions as the family business hasn't been passed down.

Sad to see, but reality is the land is worth more than the crop.

Especially when they now have to compete with agri-giants like Bonnie.

Your blessing is not only that truck, but having your hands in the soil, and nurturing something to grow! :nabble_smiley_good: :nabble_anim_handshake:

It's definitely awesome to watch the plants grow and to hear from others succeeding with them.

Now, sadly, I have another problem with Baruch (what's new).

At this point, I need to stop with the spending on Baruch. Is there a way to compress the leafs and put that "shackle" or whatever it is called back to hold the springs together? If so, what is the best way to do it?

Thank you.

The shackle is the pivoting link on the other end of the spring.

That is just a keeper to keep the leaves aligned.

It's no big deal. You can still drive.

And a new one is only a few $.

You can use a C (or 'G') clamp to hold the leaves together as yo work the keeper back towards center.

I was hoping that was what you were going to say, because that is exactly what I did, lol.

The actual mounts have some surface rust, but no big deal (thank God I don't live in the North). I'll find some adhesive or something to use to keep the keeper in place.

Dodged (Forded? That's a word, right?) a bullet. Whew.

Thank you.

I doubt adhesive will hold for long.

There's just too much flexing for some kind of glue to bond. But you're certainly welcome to try.

I'll get a picture of mine in the morning, when there is light.

You're welcome!

This is why we are here, to share and help one another. :nabble_anim_handshake:

I wish I had a welder...or even knew how to, for that matter. I'd just weld a piece of steel in front of it onto the leaf.

I briefly considered drilling a hole through the leaves and putting a bolt in there, but that very quickly seemed like a dumb idea (weakening an important part of the suspension and all).

I'll have to ponder this further...
