‘82 Bronco restoration

After a lot of debate I decided to restore a vehicle, and ran across this 1982 Bronco that needed a lot of tlc and the owner needed some cash. $600.00 later it’s mine. Now two months later I’ve pulled the 351w and completely rebuilt it. Machined the block, head job and newly rebuilt Holley 650 and comp cams extreme energy cam. Now I’m on to the body work....

I know I will have a lot of questions and appreciate any help I can get. Here are some before and after of the 351 and some pics of the project as it is progressing. Danny K.

The last is a clip that holds the quarter panel on and I can’t find them anywhere. Any help on a source please.

Thanks

Danny - That looks like a whole lot of work, but if you've done all that in two months you are doing really well! :nabble_smiley_good:

The engine looks great.

As for that clip, is it in this illustration? If so I can get the complete part number if you tell me which generic # it is.

You say "clip that holds the quarter panel on" are you talking the chrome molding?

The outside body panel should be spot welded on just like a P/U bed would be.

If not I have never seen a clip hold on the body panel.

Bill do you have a picture of the body moldings & clips used?

I think that is what this is for and if so I wonder if it can be replaced as I think it was part of the molding.

Sorry about that, I meant to say quarter panel moulding. You are correct it's the thin chrome trim. Thanks

While we have the exterior trim shown here (Exterior/Exterior Trim & Moulding), I've just realized two glaring omissions: Broncos and the retainers. :nabble_smiley_blush:

I need to do a thorough re-vamp of that page, but can't at the moment.

Danny - Is the illustration below correct for your truck? If so, the two letters in the circles represent the retainers. Which ones do you need? I can translate to a full part number and I'll bet you can easily order them.

JU That's the ones I'm having trouble with.

At present
Interesting - an '82 FreeWheeling with the EEC under the driver's seat, PW, PL, tilt, cruise, F&R sway bars. It looks like there were very few options left off that truck. I think the rear bumper is '87-91.

I'd missed that it is a Free Wheeling truck. Well spotted!

And, that's where the ECU was on both the 82's I've owned. In fact, since we put an '82 cab on Dad's truck and it has that opening that may be where the EEC-V ECU goes.
