4 pin Seatbelt Buzzer to Later 7 pin Chime?

Recommended Posts

I need some brains on this besides mine. My '81 F250 has the 4 pin seatbelt buzzer that yells at you until you buckle up or it shuts off after a couple seconds after you leave the keys in the run position.

I want to put an 87-96 7 pin doorbell chime inplace of my 4 pin buzzer. Has anyone done this before or can point me in the directions of wiring diagrams so I could maybe juryrig this?

I know my seatbelt wires are brown (maybe blue hash?) and black, but the other two wire on the 4 pin connector are red w/ yellow hash and dark green with light green stripe.

Help me out if you can, much appreciated

I have my 1987 EVTM up at my brother's house but I should be there tomorrow afternoon.

I'm pretty good with schematics and finding the proper pigtails, so if you don't see me post it by the weekend please respond to this thread and give me a nudge. :nabble_smiley_whistling:

Here's the EVTM diagram for your '81:

That schematic really helps, glad I know what wire is what, but now trying to find what prong does what on the 7 prong chime (I have one out of an 88 and a 96) and seeing if I need to jump prongs together or what comes of it. I appreciate it.

Right, that's what I'm here for. 🙂

When I get to my '87 schematic tomorrow I can post the lights on/door chime/seatbelt diagram.

Ran through the diagrams and figured it out. Did the swap and works exactly how I wanted it to. Brings back good memories of my dad's 94. 6870904_orig.thumb.jpg.b190e842f3f8102ba0858188a85960e0.jpg8400070.thumb.jpg.98e2ffc08b16b983c1ca065c9086cea4.jpg

My 88 chime drove me nuts. I pulled that sucker out of its harness and keep it in the console.

My 1980 had the separate buzzers for the seatbelt and the headlights. Dueling Buzzers was enough to drive me mad.
