460 Smog Delete and Oil Cooler Delete for a 78 Bronco Swap

Recommended Posts

Thereโ€™s a good view on my parts truck with the grill gone. My 84 truck with the 460 also has the same unit from factory.

The lines run to the block adapter and pretty stout and problem free.

Gary will point you to the FAQ's and "how to post a picture"

Basically, the forum framework is antique and can't read the metadata.

You need to rotate the image on your device and 'save as' then copy THAT image to the forum.

Even if it appears correct. Rotate, rotate back, then save, then post..... :nabble_anim_crazy:

It's a PITA and I will NOT be bothered anymore.

I've seen Bill, and others, cuss and discuss the oil/water cooler, but apparently Ford wiped it from their collective memory as by 1994 the 1980 - 89 MPC showed this:

Thank you. :nabble_smiley_good:

I missed this because my reply took me to the next page.... ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Must be a southern truck thing??

Depending on the DSO???

I honestly have never seen that up here in the NE.

But I did hear Bill mention that these were not such a problem.

It very well could be a southern truck thing but both my trucks equipped with oil coolers did not come from the south. One came from Canada (truck in profile pic) and the other from California (parts truck).

See below the Marti report that shows it under options

My truck had an identical setup, and it's originally form Colorado. Maybe a towing option?

I thought my truck had ALL the towing package. :nabble_anim_confused:

I may be wrong..

Evidently the oil cooler is a stand alone option, NOT part of the trailer/camper equipment package.

Yes. Most likely paired with a towing option, my truck has factory trailer brakes, etc. Wired to the brake master cylinder, have no idea how/if it works, Lol. Interesting part is it has 3.07 gears!! Not towing gears!!

Cool. :nabble_smiley_cool:

You've got it now! :nabble_smiley_good:

IIRC the trailer option involves a relay for all the extra lights you'll be using.

Yes there is an old relay for it. Most likely looking like fried chicken on the inside :nabble_head-rotfl-57x22_orig:
