Hello! My name is Kevin and I'm the proud owner of a 1986 Ford F150 with a 4.9l in it that I'm currently trying to revive! Well revive is a strong word. It runs and drives just not well. :nabble_smiley_tongue: I've already replaced the head with an older one with bigger intake valves and installed an HEI distributor. I'm having trouble getting the intake to seal properly (basically one giant vacuum leak) but I'm working on it slowly!

Welcome! Glad you joined. :nabble_anim_handshake:

And I'm sure those who have experience with the 4.9L, but I'm guessing the problem is with the EGR plate - or maybe the lack thereof.

Where's home? I ask because we have a map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map in the menu) and we can add you with a city/state or zip. Who knows, you may be around the corner from an expert?

Glad you've found us Kevin! :nabble_waving_orig:

The long manifold really needs to be checked for flat or the carb can come loose from the intake.
