  1. Mass Airflow conversion I see....and a stroked roller block, it has had some time and effort put into it. Not my thing personally, but it is a well put together little truck.
  2. Here's a pic for anybody not on FB. Lot of work to Make a Bullnose look like that lol.
  3. For those of you that have Facebook, this thing is kind of interesting... Somebody put an awful lot of work into converting this truck. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/272899554456771/?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search&referral_story_type=post&tracking=browse_serp%3A28e31923-147d-4728-9dc5-1f660a55537a
  4. Ha! I blame my fellow Canadians...lol. I think in a lot of cases it's their fault for complaining about the costs and fees...and god help you if you need to return something. I'm in sales, and we were just joking yesterday about "firing customers" lol. I've done it lol. As for the new paint, yes...getting pretty excited. I'm just hoping that I can pretty-up the rest of the truck enough so that it doesn't look too awful lol. This thing is really rough, and it's going to look kinda funny with the shiny new bed on it...anyway, I'll figure it out. I will probably end up selling this one at some point, so I'm trying to not go overboard with the spending on it...lol.
  5. Shopping for transfer case parts Jim I checked these guys out and they unfortunately have a bit of a complicated procedure for international shipping, so I tried AllStateGear in Texas...I ordered all my M5OD seals and parts from them a couple years ago and they were great. Except now...Canada is no longer in the drop-down menu to order, so I called them and they confirmed that they were no longer shipping up here and that I'd have to provide a USA shipping address. Back to the drawing board, I found Torque King and they had a quick and easy online order system, and the parts were showing as shipped a couple hours later (from Billings, Montana) https://torqueking.com/product/51132/qu51132-seal-and-gasket-kit-for-ford-borg-warner-1356/ The downside is that the shipping was $35, so almost double the cost of the item...but oh well, what am I going to do. I'm finding more US companies these days are no longer shipping to Canada, and if they do it is terribly expensive. Can't say that I blame them...it is a hassle, and it's expensive...and we're only a little market up here...lol. Oh well. That's how the cookie crumbles. Parts will be here on Thursday, so I might even get this thing swapped out this weekend. Depends on if my bed panels are ready for the weekend or not. Fingers crossed.
  6. I know you're looking for a different carb and intake, but to answer your vacuum question, I just purchased a cheap YF on Amazon ($69?) and I currently have ONLY the brake booster connected to vacuum. The only other thing I will be connecting is the distributor advance. (I also have my 302 set up this way...brake booster and distributor advance are the only two things I have connected)....well, I guess you can add PCV on both engines. Edit: Just realized after I posted the video that I didn't even have the booster connected in that one lol, but I did connect it shortly afterwards.
  7. LOL, it's funny for a couple reasons, but one is that I've been reading people complain for years that the 302 was a terrible truck engine haha. I have a mild fascination with the 300 six, but I too have been thinking about swapping it out for a 302...lol.
  8. Jim, if you find that I'd sure like to see it. Similar set-up I just came across... https://www.ebay.com/itm/233943274857
  9. And those of us with 117" wheelbase it's always wide open space!!
  10. I see it's in Canada, so the shipping is cheap for me at least...but the wheel price is way outside of my usual comfort zone lol.
  11. Thought some of you might find this interesting...not a Bullnose, I know...but since 1987 was the very last year for the traditional Flareside, I feel it is closely enough related (at least for those of us with Bullnose Flaresides). Anyway...what I was curious about was...anybody know what one of these types of restorations would cost???....I'm just curious. I know what it costs to rebuild one of these trucks...but paying a big shop to do one like this?>..it has got to be tens of thousands, no? 30 grand? 50? I mean, it certainly costs way more than the truck is worth (but don't they all...lol). A lot of details are missed in a 10 minute video, but it looks like they actually replaced the cab. The original cab was black inside and out, and then it shows them stripping a grey cab that is white inside...a southern replacement, no doubt. Also note the paint...it was really glossy looking going on...so must have been a single stage, eh? The Flareside guys will recognize the work needed to repair the bed sides. The one big downside...they used one of the aftermarket replacement tailgates with no FORD letters stamped into it (or maybe they fabricated it?) but the blank tailgate looks just too plain to me. Oh...and I would have had the white letters facing out on the tires, just to break up the black a little bit, but I know not everybody likes 'em that way. So throw your guess in at the invoice for this job...lol.
  12. Oh, there's an alignment pin? Then that's what happened to the hole. He pried the transmission adapter off it and broke the casting. No biggie, it will stick work fine.
  13. I ran a set of Cragar Soft-8 black wheels on my '84 for the first couple summers. I'm up and down on black wheels...I like them on some things, and then dislike them on others. For those factory spoked wheels, it would be my personal preference to paint them the factory argent color, but that's just me. PS: They came in two versions...15x7, and 15x8 (later on the Bronco's with the 31" tire package). I actually have an alert set up for them on Ebay from a couple years ago. Back when I first got her in her faded and chalky blue paint. First thing I did was add the wheels and tires. One of Christopher Lott's trucks below with the argent spoked wheels and 31" tires, at stock height (sitting fairly tall I might add). 31's and those factory spoked wheels look wicked.
  14. I spent some time going over this case this morning and cleaning it up. It's a little rough around the edges, but I think it will be OK for what I'm doing. The input mounting face had some corrosion on it, but it still cleaned up pretty well. There is a little piece of the casting broken off around 9 o'clock, but the hole has a plug pressed into it...so I assume it will be OK. I'll jam some silicone in there. The guy cut the front driveshaft u-bolts off with a torch, but I just zip cut them off and tapped them out. The front output shaft seal is really rotten...lol, and the metal slinger...or what's left of it, has disintegrated. Luckily the lock nut cam off with a 3/4" impact, and the yoke slides out easily, so I'll clean it up when the new seal goes in. Seems like there's a little bit of slop in the chain, but I don't know how much play is normal...so maybe it's OK. This case was removed from a truck that was either worn out or rotted out...or both...lol, so I'm not expecting like-new quality here. Speedo drive gear (and driven gear) appear to be in nice condition. So I'll get some input and output seals, and if need be I'll swap the front output shaft from the 1995 case...assuming it will fit. That little rusted ring on the right is what's left of that front output shaft yoke slinger.
  15. Jim, Do you have a parts breakdown or disassembly diagram of the BW1356? I got my used one today...and it's at my work shop, so I don't have it in front of me. The front output shaft has some nasty rust behind the yoke, and I didn't get a good look at it...I assume it is the tin part of the seal, or a flinger...I dunno, but it was crumbling apart. Better pics tomorrow. How hard is it to pull that yoke and replace whatever is behind it? Also, a piece of the case is cracked off...not sure it matter yet, but will have a better look tomorrow. Oh me and the rusty junk I bring home...arrrgh...lol.
  16. I just bought a new vent tube for my 1980 Flareside project. I wasn't sure what to use that would be OK with gasoline, but I bought a few feet of 3/4" air brake tubing (they said it was nylon?). It will work just fine as long as the gas doesn't ruin it. Otherwise, I'm open to ideas on what tubing to use.
  17. I know it sounds bad, but the fact that you shut it down so quickly I doubt anything is damaged. It would almost have to be something in the GVOD wouldn't it?...I mean, you didn't technically didn't touch anything in the NP435?
  18. FWIW, of all the rubber bumpers I've ordered from LMC, I don't think any of them fit lol. Gas door rubber bumpers didn't work, Flareside tailgate rubber bumpers didn't work, and rear axle rubber bumpstops didn't work (I did modify them so that they would work, but whatever...). On top of that, I just helped a guy on Facebook that found out the hard way (like I did) that LMC's listing for the rear cab mount lower bushing is incorrect. The part number they list 40-2008 does not fit...you have to order 40-2009. The listing has been incorrect for several years, and it's still incorrect today. Maybe LMC has an issue with elastomers?>..lol. In any case, I'm not complaining too much...I actually like LMC, and order from them frequently. I've mentioned before that I enjoy their paper catalogs, and their international shipping is relatively hassle free and isn't priced too insanely. (I've read a couple reports recently that JBG now refuses to ship to Canada...not that it matters much to me, I only ordered one item from them and it was a hassle). That drop-down menu asking for your truck info is mildly annoying...I can live with it. I don't use their online catalog anyway, just their "quick order" menu (using part numbers from the paper catalog)
  19. Is this the one you guys are talking about? https://www.classiccarstereos.com/1980-1986-ford-truck-radio-usa-230.html Does it come with a filler plate that fits the larger factory radio opening?
  20. I love the look of these trucks when they're straight and original like this one. Nice find, and welcome aboard.
  21. Cool kit! I think I have everything I need now...just need time to install it...lol.
  22. HA! David, you're a good man! If I hadn't already restored a "CUSTOM" center bezel for the 1980, I'd probably jump all over this! And I might still...
  23. Interesting how "late" they built these trucks. I've come across a couple 1997 F350's with build dates of 11/97.
  24. All good Jim, thanks. So you have a 1356 in an F250 as well?
