  1. Dave, I got it for $25 USD. I saved the picture from Ebay. It is unique to the Flareside, and it was a carry-over from a 70's model car (Granada maybe).
  2. The black wheels are still on the other side of the truck...lol. I'm not 100% sold on the new chrome wheels yet. I like them, but they might be too blingy...I don't know yet. Jury is still out. The cab still has not been painted, so it's still the old chalky and faded blue. Hopefully get that done by the end of July. I'm just trying to get it finished enough so that I can drive it to the body shop...lol.
  3. Ha! Thanks Ray...it's really still in the "Beater with a heater" category, but I'm dying to drive it again! Rolling down the driveway and back to the garage doesn't give one the "fix" he needs...lol. I finally filled the thing with brake fluid yesterday, and I didn't do as good a job as I thought I had...lol. I had several leaks. I was able to fix them just by tightening the fittings, but I have one small nagging leak right at the master cylinder that is going to need a new flare or a new line, whatever. I HATE working on brake lines...lol. I installed a later 90's master cylinder (plastic one) as recommended by Steve83, so at least the darn thing wont rust on me. The wiring that used to go to the proportioning valve now goes to the low level switch on the master, and that is working fine. I'm going to tighten down the bed bolts this morning and I might even take it for a drive. The cab still needs paint, but thats coming, soon-ish... I got enough bolts in the old thing to take it for a spin up the road. Man, that sloppy steering never felt so good!
  4. Excellence!! Great video...loved the 360 and commentary!! Well done Ray.
  5. Here we go. Still available from your local Ford dealer. I ordered this one last fall I believe, but haven't gotten around to installing it yet (truck hasn't been running in 8 months). I have a new aftermarket one installed currently, and it works, it just seems that the scale is off slightly...as in the gauge reads on the hotter side of the range all the time when the actual engine temp is just normal...like 195F. I am hoping the Ford sender fixes that for me.

  7. That is a gorgeous truck, congrats! I like the wheels and the way it sits too. It looks nice and straight in the pics. It looks like it has 87-91 emblems on the fenders, but it's hard to tell from the pics. 300/6 4x4 Bullnose with NP435 4spd...I'd love to have it myself. The fact that it it in such nice condition under the hood and inside is usually indicative of low mileage. I see that it is a feedback carb model with electronic distributor. It's pretty common to convert these over to Duraspark ignitions and regular carbs. The fact that system is all still intact is another low mileage clue imho.
  8. I'd say that thing was in great condition for a northern US truck...the low mileage preserved it well. A tip of the hat to you guys for putting your own tires on the rims...haha, that's a great job.
  9. Why not I think the flare side has been brought up once or twice and want to say they cant be had when we looked before. I started to looking into a replacement that we could use and think I listed them in that post, I don't remember now as it has been a long time now as I did not need it then. Think OZ needed one too. Just was wondering what Cory had for his truck is all and maybe see a real picture of a factory light and not from a parts book picture. Dave ---- Dave, Below is a picture from last year showing the plate bracket (Reamer's reproduction) and lamp working. I had the factory lamp...or whats left of the factory lamp...with the tabs broken off it and bandaged up with sheet metal (previous owner many years ago I'd say). I just ordered a NOS Flareside plate lamp on Ebay and should have it next week hopefully. Should be back in original-ish condition in no time!
  10. Ray, I took a video just so you could hear the little 302. Please excuse the partial assembly (disassembly?), multi-colored panels, body-filled cab corners, layers of dust, and mismatched wheels...lol. I think the iPhone mic picked up more engine noise than it did exhaust sound, but whatever. First time running and out of the garage under it's own power since last fall. And here is a video under the hood from spring 2018 when I had just installed the freshly built 302.
  11. You are about 2 years to late as I have them sitting in a box ready to go on after paint. Dave ---- I just fired the old girl up. Holy smokes even after sitting for 8 months or so it didn't take much to start it. New fuel tank, lines, and pump. I threw a couple gallons in it, cranked her over a little bit, and it started and idled just like normal. Feels good to hear the old girl run again.
  12. I don't think so. (Edit...sorry, I was answering about the brackets and you asked about the lamps. No, the lamps are not the same). Here are the ones Reamer reproduced. I have one on my truck now that replaced the original rusted out one. http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/5-brackets-done-tp10729.html
  13. Yes sir I did. Here they are side by side. The originals had some white paint sprayed inside.
  14. Edit... Called LMC and got a quick answer. Looks like the holes are there for the small mirrors, and I assume you'd have to drill a hole down lower if you were installing the larger ones.
  15. Gentlemen, I was checking around on the price and availability of body parts today...mainly front fenders and doors, and it looks like fenders are no problem...available in a couple days locally at a reasonable price. However, local supplier says no-go on the doors. Has anybody ordered door shells from LMC before? If yes, do they come with mirror mount holes and wiring grommet holes (for speaker wires, etc)? If not LMC, where else would one look at ordering a door shell from? I'm hoping that I only need the driver's side, but I may need both.
  16. Except for the one Flareside I saved pics of on Ebay, I have never seen the paddle mirrors on another Bullnose.
  17. Rick, Off topic question for ya since I know you know the trim and options on the Bullnoses very well...and you have an '85 with the small mirrors... Have you ever seen an '85-up Bullnose with the black "paddle lock" mirrors as discussed over in this thread linked below: http://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/Black-outside-mirror-E3TZ-17682-D-NOS-td31805.html#a31922
  18. Nice truck. Where is it? Just curious...I don't need another one.
  19. Yes, no problem, but it won't be until tonight when I get back home. The aftermarket sender I installed works, it's just that the scaling seems to be a bit off. The gauge now reads higher than it is supposed to. I would have re-installed my original sender, but I sold my carb/intake and the sender went with it. I bought the new Ford sender hoping it provides a better range for the gauge...but I haven't gotten around to installing it yet. Dealing with 3400 lbs of rust has put things like temp gauge senders at the bottom of my priority list...lol.
  20. Hey Quarter, The temp sender is right behind the distributor, with one wire going to it. (My '84 302 appears to be a red wire...not sure if it's striped or not...I couldn't see it well with only one coffee in me...lol). PS: If by chance you find that the sender is bad, they are still available directly from Ford. I bought one this past winter but haven't installed it yet. I have an aftermarket sender in there now but it doesn't read properly.
  21. Ron, I didn't realize until I went to wire in my new tail lights that of the 3 wires going to the tail light, none of them are grounds. One is for park, one is for directional/brake, and one is for the reverse lamp. The 3 mounting studs on the tail light housings are the grounds. It looks like in some cases, they ran an external ground wire out to the tail light with a ring terminal that was attached to one of the mounting studs. My truck did not have this wire, and neither did Ray's as noted above, but Din's 1982 did have the wire. Ray says his truck has a ground wire to the bed. Do you have an external wire going to one of the mounting studs on your tail lights on your '86? Since I've rebuilt and painted/power coated my bed, it went from being a poor ground to being a terrible ground, so I was just curious how other trucks were wired up. In any case, it's not a big deal. I'll run a ground wire either to the bed Like Ray's or to the tail light like Din's.
  22. LOL, you clearly care about it much more than I do. You would have to define the level of inferiority for me to put more consideration into than I am. The stock grounding system worked fine for 35 years. If I wire it as per the stocking grounding on a 1985 Flareside, am I or anybody else going to see a noticeable improvement in illumination in my tail lights? How would one measure this other than me explaining to somebody that Steve83 says my tail light circuit is inferior??...lol.
