  1. Gary said, "So I'd suggest either the AOD or the E4OD. Both effectively have a lock-up torque converter, which reduces slippage while going down the highway, and both have an overdrive gear. The AOD has to be beefed up to stand up to a 351W while the E4 came behind 460's, so started life stronger. But it takes a computer to run it. So either are fairly expensive to get set up the way you'd want them. However, they'll be much better to use on a daily basis. So, find a good trans shop and get their recommendation." I had an E4OD behind a 460 and it was troublesome. I have one in my 92 Bronco with the 351W and it's been great. As Gary said find a good shop or look around online, some folks beefed them up to handle the Powerstrokes. I remember Brian's Truck Shop was popular some time ago. IMO the E4OD won't take the horsepower and torque of the 460. I have a C6 in my 1986 F250 with the 460 and 3.55 gears and I like it. But it's not my long haul rig, yet.
  2. Gary, I used to own a 1994 F250, with the 460. I bought it from my boss, he bought it brand new. He had the "extra" leaf put in the front, I believe Ford had them for the "sagging" front ends. My 1986 is stock, and I like it better for two reasons: 1) I'm getting more crippled up and it was harder to climb into and work on. I put some Carr Hoop steps on it also. 2) When I would go across the ruts in the streets that are made in the winter around here, I would have to reach down on the floor and pick up my teeth! It rode rough. Just some thoughts. Might have to go with the Hoop steps on the 86, it came with Carr Giant steps I think they call them, (they are higher) even got supports that weren't installed, and bolts, nuts and washers from Carr at no charge!
  3. I just had to straighten out a wiring mess in the rear of my F250. I would get the front and the left rear parking lights. No right or license plate lights. Found a bad connection where the parking lights were tied in to the trailer plug.
  4. I don't know if it's rust free, if it's been in Klamath Falls all it's life it should be. https://klamath.craigslist.org/cto/d/1981-ford-f100/6297443880.html
  5. Gary, I was on Firefox this morning and saw my signature. Went to Chrome, which is what I normally use, and no signature. Just for future reference! Thanks!
  6. "Grumpin - Your sig is showing, at least to me. See below." OK, thanks Gary. I still don't see it. No problem, you have enough to deal with! Thanks!
  7. Gary, this is what I see, with the shrunken font: Still no signature yet. Sorry if this has been hashed out!
  8. I agree with Gary on the rear, trailer wiring. Saturday I fixed a mess in my F250. Also I've seen the wiring for the turn signal switch rub on the steering wheel and blow the fuse.
  9. Hi, I got my Bullnose in January of this year. Traded my 1987 Toyota 4Runner for it. I'm happy. She's in pretty good shape, lot's of things neglected though. I'm in south central Oregon. In the high desert. This is my fourth Ford truck, plus I have a Bronco and had a Ford conversion van. Lots of good people and info., so I thought I better join up! Edit, don't see my signature yet. 1986 F250 XLT Lariat 4x4 460 C6, 1992 Bronco XLT 351W E4OD
