  1. Nice! The brake pedal is big, is this normal or a conversion from an automatic? Seen it before and always wondered.
  2. I agree, when you said it tries to fire every so often, I thought timing. Jim has a good idea there.
  3. Interesting! I never caught that the later ones didn’t turn purple. Mine is good so far.
  4. Nice! I’m a little jealous!
  5. I was researching clutches for something and noticed on RA that the Luk pictures had Valeo stamped on them. I thought the same thing, they were competitors. Rusty and I were hitting on this the other day with electrical parts. Seems a lot of competitors own the competition. I just wish there was some better quality.
  6. Nice truck! I agree on the seats, look comfy, but out of place. Good eye on the fender badges!
  7. It spit and shook a bit on the very first start, but then smoothed out pretty quick. I suppose it took a minute to pump up all the stuck lifters so they'd start smackin' the valves and loosen them up...ha. It did smoke a little bit after a few minutes, but not serious...certainly not for an old engine in a truck that was dragged out of the weeds. I think running it a little bit would make a difference too. That’s great for the life it’s had!
  8. Thanks Scott! I'm just amazed that it runs as well as it does...lol. Once it was warmed up a little bit, I started and stopped it a half a dozen times over a couple hours, and it would start at just a touch of the key...instantly, and then idle smoothly. Gauges in the instrument cluster aren't working, so I have to look into that. Unless the gauge is correct and there's no oil pressure...uh oh...haha. Man, sounded good, looked good too! Wasn’t shaking.
  9. Go to the 2000’s. https://www.smpcorp.com/en/about/history
  10. They could, but Standard products ive had fail before they ever leave the shop. Ive also had standard products fail on installation.Did a headlight switch on my truck was a standard thing broke on installation where you couldnt feel the detent for park lights and then headlights it would just pop straight smooth out to headlights. Swapped it out for a BWD and it had real solid positive stops for park and headlight positions. If Standard owns BWD, then its just simply BWD is the higher tier product of theirs while Standard is their entry level. I had a problem with a BWD sensor I think it was, the SMP was better in that situation. A lot of times it’s hit or miss. I think sometimes people return stuff and they don’t look at it and put it back on the shelf. Through the years Standard has been good. Seems like a lot of companies cheap out. 11. I thought Standard owns BWD. I’ve had good luck with Standards better stuff, i.e. NAPA Echlin, I forget what Autozone calls that line. Never heard of rebuilding one.
  12. You can really see the metallic in the door jam. Welcome!
  13. I’ve had 2 or 3 trucks that I had to redo the trailer lighting on. On my 86 I had problems with the ground as Steve said. Can’t remember what exactly it was doing.
