  1. Ah, I didn't look at the pictures and my electronic units are a couple gens ago. I've been trying to think of another location/switch option for the auto. The shifter cane is perfect and having one foot switch is perfect. But having two...
  2. Congrats to all the winners! Well deserved. Ray's no doubt right on the lack of it being a final tourist destination but with the proximity to Tulsa, I thought Skiatook was a really nice location for it - quiet main drag but still an easy drive to Tulsa which gives you a pretty good interstate access in several directions. It may be a state too low but relatively speaking it's not terribly far from the geographical center of the US. There was a parade (and rodeo I think) going on but not sure if that will always coincide and even if so, how to utilize it. Kind of like your mpg test, maybe a nice scenic drive and cookout dinner at the destination that would start after the show? Make it more of an all day thing. As Chris mentioned seeing you guys - would be neat to have a parade of (primarily bullnose ) trucks. Not sure these would draw more people in though...
  3. Sounds like a good plan to me. I've got a plastic fish from a previous job of running network wires somewhere around here...
  4. Not when I do this @TheScatch - keep us updated on what HU you go with and how it works out. The capabilities of them now are crazy.
  5. Thanks! I am really happy with how it turned out. Looking forward to seeing all the brown of the hood. The painter drilled the hole in the cowl cover for the wiper motor top bolt so it will get painted and installed next. I can't recall in what order I removed it- can the antenna wire be installed after all that fairly easily? So if I wait until I get it back at my place can I snake it through the firewall and up?
  6. Haha well your truck runs so I'd say that's a lot in your favor! And at heart, mine will always be a two tone desert tan truck
  7. Stopped by the paint shop today. Looking like a truck again.
  8. Should be able to just pop the pad off and see the bracket Gary provided. Unless we are talking about a true center (dsp), I vote for no benefit (detriment actually) so we need you or TheScatch to try it and break the tie
  9. Some good info on the large truck brake lights: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/958838-1993-f700-brake-problems-help-please.html
  10. My favorite (when the grill deteriorates) is a coin/glasses/misc cubby to fit down in there. We just need to convince Reamer to make some
  11. Always next year! I am taking this further into the audiophile realm than needed (and in which I don't belong since even a bucket won't help me carry a tune) but it's an interesting discussion to me. That config would be: LEFT -- driver -- MONO -- Passenger -- RIGHT So there would still be the situation where the driver would hear the left channel out of both ears. Right? But if you say it sounds good and TheScatch goes that route and reports back in the positive, and if I can find the 5x7 from Camano (was installed but not wired) I might give it a shot.
  12. If you wire it in a standard dvc config (stereo) the driver will have L on one side and L+R on the other. Passenger would be opposite. I've heard of people doing that in high school but I've never heard it in person (or am not attune enough to know...). I am not positive that it won't play L-only and R-only output, I thought that required a dsp. Regardless on whether it's a true center or not, if you want a center speaker without a more complicated setup then that sounds like a valid plan. People hear/tolerate things differently so you can always run it for awhile and then unplug the center to see what sounds best to you.
  13. Do you need the dash speaker? If you are attune to that stuff, it can cause some odd stereo effects for driver and passenger.
  14. Yeah, with how your receiver is setup, any factory sway bar setup will work. Ford attached the front sway bars a handful of different ways. It's when the receiver hitch is attached directly under the frame horns that one may run into issues - all depends upon the bar style they have and how the receiver hitch is attached. Since for these years, all front receiver hitches are going to be custom jobs, never know what one will find.
  15. Sorry, never got back to you. With just a HU and the door speakers, no longer than the run is, 18 is fine. If you had to order wire and didn't already have the 18 on hand, I'd go with 16 but again, not necessary.
  16. Sorry, was hoping they'd have it for you. If there isn't really a need to have the tools permanently, you could check your local auto parts store to see if they rent the flaring tool, cutter, and bender. May have to buy the cutter. Then you could buy a stock length longer than you need, bend it, cut one end off and reuse that nut. Then you only have to flare one end. You may also be able to get by with just getting a new nut and the flaring tool. Cut off the flare near the bad nut, clean it, install the new nut, and flare it. Good chance you can squeeze out the little length you removed but I don't know how the 351 is routed so that would need confirmed.
  17. I didn't know they switched the manuals to the dimmer switch also. My manual has the orange/red stick mounted one and the auto has the floor dimmer.
  18. Have you checked Inline Tube? I recall them having some of those lines. Sometimes it's a wash as far as price is concerned with buying premade vs buying the line and making your own.
  19. I picked up a pair of those from Lowe's a few years back for painting our garage ceiling. Used them shortly after when a friend came over to tune in the carb on the 85 460. They worked/work great - gave us both plenty of stable room to stand that spanned across the front of the truck. A worthwhile investment that beats working hunched over with your knees on the core support or slipping off the front bumper.
  20. AFAIK, it's Steve (Maurice) Miller. Cue slide guitar
  21. I don't think that's the reason for no search results in this case
  22. The more I look and think about this, the more I like it. I replaced the rear receiver on my 86 with a heavier one so the one I took off is sitting in my shop and has the removable end pieces. I see it's bolted at the bottom - can you see where else it is attached?
