  1. You are now on the map. Looks like you aren't far from Steve83.
  2. Sounds like a good prospect for the shake-down run of "overlanding" Big Blue!!! Yipes! That sounds 'spensive. If I'm lucky and the EFI + ZF5 get him to 14 MPG, which is a lofty goal for a 460, that'll still be a far cry from the 35 MPG Janey's car gets. Then there's comfort, or the lack thereof. Plus where to put the luggage. Plus..... But we could take Blue, which has the comfort and significantly better MPG than BB. And we could take some parts to people or pick up parts to bring back. Hmmmm!
  3. I need your input on what instructions would be helpful to put into a footer that would appear at the bottom of an embedded PDF. But let me 'splain: The way I'm currently placing PDF documents on the website is by embedding a set of code that OneDrive gives me, and that displays the document on the page. But it isn't intuitively obvious to the casual observer how to manipulate or peruse that document. And there are no instructions included. For example, you can use the scroll bar in the doc to move up/down. Or, you can left-click in the doc and use your mouse or the arrow keys or the page-up/down buttons. In addition, at the bottom of the document's frame there is a zoom control, download/print/feedback button, and a "full screen" button. And that "full screen" button is important as it gets you the ability to search the document for any term you'd like. I've been trying to find a way to explain some or all of that to the user, and I think I found it last night. It is a set of code that displays whatever text we want permanently at the bottom of the document's frame. And, I have an example thereof on my Test Page. Please have a look and let me know what things you think should be explained in that footer.
  4. I think 20 ga is too small. Ford used smaller wire than I'm comfortable with, but I think 20 is much smaller than needed. If 4RCustoms doesn't have it then I'd start searching via Google. When I needed a red wire w/a specific stripe for Big Blue I found it via a Google search. Turned out it was available via Amazon from K4 Auto & Marine. But perhaps someone else will know another place?
  5. That's cool. And, maybe REALLY cold right now. I realize that the temps are moderated by the ocean, but it still has to get cold. Right? Does the water get warm enough to truly enjoy in the summer?
  6. That IS my free time. This is a hobby, and a hobby is supposed to be fun. And I'm having FUN! But, Janey and I are headed into T-town today to just run errands, do some shopping, and hang out together. So y'all are on your own today and there'll be no progress on the interchange front. Having said that, I have a trick I want to try on the coding for embedding pdf's, so will probably do a bit a playing with that will sitting in Barnes & Noble.
  7. Yes, I'm following along (I'm subscribed to the whole of the forum, so get email alerts when anything is posted.) I didn't realize that it took so long to travel. But I should have known. Anyway, yesterday when I showed my wife, Janey, where y'all are she said "Let's go!" That's a region of the world we've not explored and would like to do so.
  8. Welcome, again. This post says you are in Millington, TN. Want me to put you on the map?
  9. That's exactly why I like to peruse the posts on eBay things as it is disappointing how many of them are wrong.
  10. Welcome!!! Glad to meet you. That does sound like an intimidating project. One thing that most of the EFI guys have looked for is pressure on the test/Schrader valve on the fuel rail. (I think by '86 all of them had it.) There's info on the idle speed adjustment here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/efi-idle-speed-adjustment.html And test procedures here: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/eec-iv-diagnostics.html By the way, where's home? I ask because we have a member's map (Bullnose Forum/Member's Map) and I could easily put you on it.
  11. That's interesting. I'd never even heard of that boot. But, sure enough, it is in the catalog. However, for whatever reason it shows for an '86 and later w/a 351W. Wonder why?
  12. First, on our Resources page there's a link to 4RCUSTOMS, who say they have all the wire colors. As for the wire sizes, I'm going to guess that Ford used 14 gauge wire for the fuel pumps and 16 gauge or 18 gauge for the sending units. But that's just a guess. However, in a couple of days I could try to measure an extra harness I have - if you still need me to do so.
  13. Is there any page in that book that describes the precise location of the "frame datum line" or its position on an actual frame? Passes through some particular bolt or rivet; runs along some surface; anything? I think the answer is yes. I went to the Truck Dimensions tab and then to the bottom of the frame housing the document, and clicked the Full Screen icon in the lower right. (By the way, I forgot to tell you that I've gone back to only showing one page at a time of a document, largely because that makes the controls at the bottom of the frame accessible. Otherwise, if we make the frame the full size of the document you'd have to scroll down the whole document to get to those controls, which in this case would be 56 pages.) Once the doc is open in a new tab I used the Search function and looked for "datum". Sure enough, there 52 matches. The one below is from Page B36 and says that the datum line is 2.68" below the top of the bumper and 2.36" above the step. Which are interesting reference points - what if you had a different bumper? Anyway, does that help? Did you have a particular datum line you were asking about? (And does that show why I like having the pdf on the site? You can easily search them for anything. And, as I think about it, that makes my decision of which pdf software to use pretty easy. Adobe is terribly expensive and ABBYY doesn't OCR the illustrations, and I just found what I wanted in an illustration. So Foxit wins!)
  14. That's what it is called in some places in the MPC, like in the cable listing: But look at this. Talk about consistency?
  15. Looks like you know what you are doing. I want to do something similar, so hope you'll document it thoroughly.
  16. Looks like the right thing for an '85 regular cab w/auto or 3-on-the-tree. (Obviously could be cut for floor shifters.)
  17. I cannot find E5TZ 19B969-D in the catalog. Plenty of other 19B969-D's, but not E5.
  18. I don't doubt you, Bill. And I could probably prove it by climbing the microfiche tower, but I'll just take your word for it.
  19. Today I got this done: Alternators: I got the 46 pages for car alternators scanned, but the 70 pages for trucks is still running through the scanner as I type Crankshafts: 12 pages of car info and 13 pages for trucks Heads: 21 pages for cars and 23 pages for trucks Distributors: Added the 9-page car info And I also added the 1980 Light Truck Roadability Diagnosis Guide.
  20. Yes, David, that I am. And today I got this done: Alternators: I got the 46 pages for car alternators scanned, but the 70 pages for trucks is still running through the scanner as I type Crankshafts: 12 pages of car info and 13 pages for trucks Heads: 21 pages for cars and 23 pages for trucks Distributors: Added the 9-page car info That seems to be 124 pages. But, I also added the 1980 Light Truck Roadability Diagnosis Guide, so does that count?
