Re: 1986 Bronco (Mossberg)

I think all the light bulbs are stock just based on everything else I've seen. It's tough, I can't get to the tail lights because I can't open the tailgate. And I can't open the tailgate because I can't get the window down...

I did hook up the window motor to a Ryobi battery and the motor just spins (both directions). I'll probably need a weekend for that solution.

I did solve my hazard problem and my throttle body problem with y'alls help. Thank you as always!

Sounds like the balls are shot in your coupling. I had one like that, it was possible to push the window down and pull it up, all you have to do is overcome friction between the window and the felt and overcome the springs. You may be able to pull the rear panel and pull the glass down a few inches from the inside. That would allow you to do the rest of the work from the outside which is so much more pleasant. Otherwise, youd just need to pull the motor from inside the truck.

Cleaning the coupling out, replacing the balls and repacking it all is probably a 10 minute job once you have the motor out. Sorry for your luck :(

Another confusing thing- your tailgate key switch is supposed to work all the time. The switch in the dash is only supposed to work with the key on. Took me a solid week to figure that out..

These 11mm ball bearings are what I used

Nice! Thanks for the advice and the link to the ball bearings! I heard somewhere...if you haven't worked on the back glass, have you REALLY owned a Bronco?

All of the bronco idiosyncrasies are worth it the first time you have the top off. But the tailgate as a whole is a bit of a pain sometimes...

Continuing to work through the project and trying to figure out why my tail lights weren't working...anyone have a tail light harness for a Bronco? Are they the same on the F-series?20220411_191243.jpg

Here you can see the Bronco layout above the F-150 --> 350.

Ultimately a styleside uses the same connector 121 and same ground 701
But the harness is different in that the Bronco uses connector 124 to run three independent ground wires to ground while a pickup connects all the grounds together at splice 153 and runs a single 57(BK) wire to ground through connector 126
