1982 Ford F150, Short Bed, 4x4, Auto

Recommended Posts

Well, it is a decent looking truck. But $20K????? No way, Jose!

On the plus side it has good tires and wheels. The interior looks pretty good and the dash pad doesn't appear to be cracked. And the frame and axles appear to have been painted. Plus it has A/C and everything appears to be there.

But on the negative side the seat has a cover on it so the original must be bad. There is no tach nor fog light switch or other cool options - not even speed control. The original air cleaner is missing and replaced by a hot-air inlet one. And the Rosewood is coming off the instrument bezel on the left side.

All in all, I think he'll be lucky to get $8K for it. Hagerty seems to think it might be worth between $8K & $13.6K. Here are the writeups on conditions 3 & 4:

  • #3 vehicles drive and run well but are not used for daily transportation. The casual passerby will not find any visual flaws, but these vehicles might have some incorrect parts. #3 vehicles could possess some, but not all, of the issues of a #4 vehicle, but they will be balanced by other factors such as fresh paint or a new, correct interior.

  • #4 vehicles are daily drivers, with flaws visible to the naked eye. The chrome might have pitting, the windshield might be chipped and perhaps the body has a minor dent. Imperfect paintwork, split seams or a cracked dash might be present. No major parts are missing, but there might be non-stock additions. A #4 vehicle can also be a deteriorated restoration.
