Anticosti Island - Big Brother's Homeland

Some of you already know that Big Brother grew up on Anticosti Island QC. He retired on my little Farm at Mont-Tremblant QC.

I went at Anticosti 2 times, my wife has family living there. It's a well known deer hunters and salmon fishers paradise. Here are couple of pictures I took during these trips, showing the land of Big Bro's child.

The island is populated with deers... and Ford pickups.

The ferry is in 2 parts, front for passengers and containers on back:

Whales during the crossing trip:

There is only one main road (gravelled), which crosses the island lengthwise:

Get a flat? Don't have to worry about your jack:

Wow! That's cool! And probably no salt on the roads to rust the vehicles?

I wish we could have seen that, but it was WINDY when we were there. Janey and I thought we were going to take a stroll on the deck, but couldn't even get the door open, so didn't.

I didn't know anything about the island, so looked it up: :nabble_smiley_oh:

Located in Quebec, Canada, Anticosti Island sits astride the St. Lawrence River in the Gulf of the St. Lawrence. The island is the 20th largest island in Canada and is 135 miles long and between 10 and 30 miles wide. The island is designated as a Provincial Wildlife Reserve. About one and a half times the size of Price Edward Island and almost the same size as the island of Jamaica, Anticosti Island is unrivalled with its natural attributes. Rivers cut through deep canyons, limestone cliffs tower over the sea and crystal lakes dot the sub-boreal landscape. Anticosti’s attraction is what it has always been: its unbridled wilderness and unique coastal setting.

No salt, the main road is closed during winter season. They use snowmobiles to travel.

That's probably the main reason why Big Brother has a good frame. The body panels rusted during the few years after my wife's dad acquired it, Big Bro stayed at Montreal before I took him at Tremblant.

I plan to make a story book for Big Bro, showing how he was before the resto, and the resto process itself.

Stay tuned!

Great pics and information Big Brother! Thanks for sharing. I know of Anticosti Island, but I have never been there.

I've visited the Magdalen Islands once back in 2011, and have been around the Gaspe several times. I have been to Port Cartier with work, and I've flown in and out of Sept Iles many times on my way to and from Labrador, so I've flown over Anticosti several times. Beautiful country up there...lots of wildlife, whales, seals, and massive mosquitos haha.

For those that like seafood, coastal Quebec is a great place to travel. I particularly like pizza aux fruits de mer (Seafood Pizza) and if you're lucky enough a lobster clubhouse sandwich!

Rub it in there, Cory. As you know I was all set for some seafood while in Halifax and Gaspe but got nada. :nabble_smiley_cry:
