Gary Lewis
Thank you Gary, Back when I had a 1980 straight six transplanted into my '66 F100, I went through a bunch of trouble to find a replacement alternator with a double belt pulley... then I went through a bunch of trouble trying to find two equal length belts so I could fill both V's (even two new belts off the same shelf at the parts house wouldn't tension right). So now I know what that extra notch was for 🙄. I was young and took things a bit literally at the time! You might like this document from Gates on belt matching. 85lebaront2
The routing is different between AC and non AC. Looks like yours has AC, so according to this thread on FTE it should be routed as shown: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1149179-belt-routing-help.html Glad someone found it, I went through my 1986 manuals and not one damn thing on belts other than the section in the pre-delivery etc. manual regarding checking tension.
