Gary Lewis
I found an oddity in the 1985 factory shop manual this morning. In the pic on the left I've circled the Dana 60 Front Drive Axle entry in the index for Driving Axles And Driveshafts as being Section 36. But in the pic on the right I've circled that there's a Section 34 and then a Section 40, but no Section 36. So it looks like the folks that created the FSM got ready for the introduction of the D60 front axle in late '85 or early '86, but as of the printing of the book in Sept of '84 they hadn't been given that section. And I assume that in the '86 FSM there is a section 15-36 on the D60. Does anybody have the '86 FSM to prove that?
grumpin
I still have my copy on CD. It goes from 15-34 to 15-40.

grumpin
Thanks, Dane. Is yours an '86 FSM? Yes. Edit: didn’t I send you an 86 FSM on CD?
Gary Lewis
Yes. Edit: didn’t I send you an 86 FSM on CD? Weird! So even though the D60 was at least introduced in 1986, if not late '85, on the 4wd F350's the FSM doesn't cover them.

Gary Lewis
Ford, with all their FSM mistakes, is still better than Chilton-Haynes. Absolutely! The Ford doc's are the best thing since sliced bread. Not perfect, but very, very good.

I have the 1980 book version, and I bought the book version for my 2003 Ranger as well. They've both already paid for themselves numerous times.
