351W Power Steering attachment plate

Recommended Posts

Hi Gentlemen!

I will change the bracket plate that attaches the power steering to the motor block.

Big Brother's one is a Frankenstein one, probably made from a 302. It creates a misalignment of the pulley.

Can someone send a picture of a real OEM one, so I will have the portrait of the wanted suspect.

Thanks!

You're looking for part number E4TZ-3C511-C. As you have discovered, it is different from the 302 bracket. It looks similar, but it is longer and has an "X" stamped in the center for strength.

Thanks for the link Shaun!

This thread mentions that some 70's and early 80’s could probably fit.

There’s a bunch of old F-Series at a junk yard near here, I’ll take a look next week.

I might have one leftover from my serpentine belt swap. I will take a look tonight.

Thanks Pete, let me know if so.

I asked to my local junk yard, they will verify their old F-Series stock, waiting for their answer.

Here are two accessory brackets I found, one appears factory:

And one that appears to be more homemade, there's some welding on it that is obviously not factory.

If either of those are what you're looking for, I'll get them in the mail to you.

Hi Pete,

Folowing the other thread https://forum.garysgaragemahal.com/351-Windsor-Power-steering-bracket-td41375.html, the 351W plate is supposed to have an X stamped on it:

Power_sterring_plate.jpg.01edebc7fffbfdfaad3b6fe4d8f78758.jpg

It is supposed to differ from the 302 one, illustrated on the diagram (and looking a lot as yours):

Is it possible your OEM one comes from a 302? If not, I am really confused...

I got the motor from someone who supposedly pulled it out of a motorhome. A lot of the bracketry was cobbled together, as you saw on the other piece. So it would not surprise me at all if this piece does not belong on a 351. So probably no need for the confusion, it's just not the right piece.:nabble_smiley_sad:

The PS bracket on my 351 has the "x"Power_steering_pump_bracket.jpg.9258734663ed83a26ed1662b8d457fcc.jpg

My pulley alignment problem is on the air conditioner, which I have not yet hooked up. The tensioner pulley witch is misaligned by the width of the pulleyPulley_alignment.jpg.999c4a031472159ee18e957a122bcdc2.jpg I'm not sure how these pictures got rotated. Sorry.
