Dimension for correct NP205 output seal

Recommended Posts

My NP205 is leaking and I'm going to pull it and replace the gaskets and seal at the output where I see the leak. I'm having trouble finding the right seal to fit my mix of parts. I have a Ford NP205 (stock) with a 1350 flange that has a 2.125" OD (aftermarket). What is the correct dimensions for the seal? Should the OD be 3" or 3.06" and what is the correct width?

2.125" yoke OD was on some 79s F trucks with the 2 speed NP205, but depending on whether I look at Rock Auto or JBG, I get different Timken part numbers for a 205. I know the NP205 doesn't apply to the Bullnose, but hoping someone here knows the answer.

Chad - I don't know the answer to the question, but I'm hoping this will help you figure it out. I've extracted the pages from the 1973-79 MPC that I think are applicable to the NP 205. And in the parts list you want column J. And hopefully the illustrations I've included are for a 205, but the MPC doesn't really say.

Thanks, Gary. As the Executive often says to the Engineer, "The answer you gave me is thorough and technically accurate, but it does not help me solve my problem at all." I need this documentation for my transfer case, though, so I really appreciate that. From what I can tell the correct OD for the rear output seal on the NP205 is 3.06" and the depth should be .47". I'm going with SKF 21215 for the seal.

Sorry, but that's the best info I have. Please let us know what you find out.
