Extended oil Filler Neck & Breather Hose

Recommended Posts

Hi Gentlemen,

As some of you know, motor in Big Brother isn't the original one. Was swapped twice, original one (I think) was a 351W 4V, the second one was a 351 Cleveland 2 barrels.

In 2008, I swapped it for a 351W 4V, which I made completely restored by specialists in September 2013.

So, not really OEM motor under the hood.

When I swapped the motor, I was happy to see that the “new” one had an extended oil filler neck. Goodbye oil spillage, much easier to fill, and no more oil sipping out of the cap seal.

I plan to change the carburetor this summer. I will take this opportunity to clean and repaint the motor, the valves covers and the air box.

Analyzing and preparing my project, I tried to identify my setup, with no luck, cannot find a diagram showing this extended filler neck.

Here is a picture of the air box side and the extended oil filler. Any idea of a diagram I could rely on and keep in file? Maybe it’s just not OEM but aftermarket?

Thanks!

It has an air of family, yep!

So, this seems to be OEM Manufacturer Part, nice.

Just strange that I did not find any diagram showing this famous extended filler neck…

:nabble_anim_confused:

The extended neck on my 460 is removable. Turns into the valve cover like a cap.

I would like to know if that part could be purchased separately. If so, I would love one for Lucille.

I relocated the oil cap to the rear of the passenger's side valve cover (and moved the PCV valve to the front driver's valve cover) when I added the twin-snorkel air cleaner from a Ford Mustang. It is a pain to add oil with the cap so low and at the back of the engine.

Rick - I'm not finding it in the MPC, but I'm probably just missing it.

Dane - Could you look to see if yours has a number on it?

I too relocated the oil fill to the rear passenger side on my sons truck but used the newer style covers from an explorer as we did the top end swap on his truck using a 99 explorer as a donor. the explorer upper intake sits lower and the throttle body fits quite differently. it runs great when right but unfortunately he has been plagued with numerous sensor and iac issues. I'm certain its from too many store brand parts. I can not get him to understand that ford did not source their electronics through autozone!
