dennisb
My truck's alternator is currently being held on by the adjustment bracket on the bottom and one very long sleeved bolt into the block at the top, I'm assuming that this nightmare occurred when the smog pump was removed, the setup is working so far but the V belt squeals on revs and my concern is that the bolt might snap at some point. Is there a simple solution, IE an adapter kit? the one I ordered from the Bronco grave yard did not work. Thank you.
Gary Lewis
There are two solutions. The cleanest is to find an early mounting bracket before the AIR pump, but those are very hard to find. Another way is to get one of the brackets that came on your truck and cut it down. That's described, along with other ways, in this thread: 302 Alternator Mounting Brackets?
