1986F150Six
Good morning! This morning I stopped by the house of a friend I have known for 50+ years. First of all, let me say that he is a great guy, loves classic vehicles and flips them successfully, so he KNOWS his "stuff". In his driveway was something which caught my attention. It is a true survivor and is blessed with natural patina! I am not going to reveal what it is as that is not important, but the discussion reveals how the vehicle market has changed. As I was tenderly looking over it, my friend [in salesman mode] commented that this was a X dollar vehicle. He was describing it as it might have been a couple of years ago. I told him that I would gladly give him 2X dollars today [me in my purchaser mode]. He came back with stating that he will drive it for a short time and then will ask 4.8X dollars! Oh, well! Gary Lewis
Basically 5x in two years!?!?!? Hagerty is showing basically 3x price increase in two years for a 1985 F250 RCLB 460 with 4wd. But that varies by condition, with a Cat 4 truck increasing 2x and a Cat 1 increasing the full 3x. However, his 5x is probably Hagerty's increase plus his buying low and selling high. Oddly enough my '69 Super Bee has only increased from 13 - 30% in that time depending on category. So it is highly vehicle dependent.
