1986 Motorsports SVO Catalog

Recommended Posts

Gary and I touched on this on Facebook. I came across a 1986 Ford Motorsports SVO catalog from a friend that has some interesting bullnose accessories including part numbers for the ever so hard to find Marchal fog lights and various light covers and gauge pods for the little finger cup on the lower right of the cluster... and a lot of goodies including other Motorsport stuff as well such as blocks, NASCAR cylinder heads etc. Im not sure how many numbers are still good on parts made 30+ years ago, but I did Google a few and some of them come up still if someone's selling it.

Any interest having the book scanned for the website? It is THICK and going to take a while and some effort. There is some good diagnosis info, all kinds of engine rebuild specs etc...this is directly from FoMoCo themselves. This also includes some very early 1987 model stuff, Bronco IIs, Mustangs and Rangers.

Here's a couple samples.

I think you said on FB that it is loose-leaf. If so I can easily scan it as my scanner has a sheet-feeder and scans both sides in one go.

So yes, I'd love to scan it and put it on the site.

It's still in book form, I misread, so it might be a little difficult to scan without taking it apart.

I'd say all but 1 or 2 pages are in excellent shape.

That’s a horse of another color. How many pages? What size are the pages?

102 in the technical stuff (lot of this is actually really neat variations between parts otherwise not noticed like certain blocks not being drilled for clutch linkage and casting number lists) and another 102 for the catalog itself. 204 total (covers included). Size wise I beleive standard white copy paper size.

I might have to farm that out. But I'm willing to try if you'll send it to me. :nabble_smiley_good:

I like that first page, Bob Glidden’s Chief Auto Parts Pro Stock racer.

I mentioned before I was going through the pits at Pomona Drag Strip and walked around to the back of his Pro Stocker and it had under the spoiler, “Have you driven a Ford lately?”

Man he was pretty much dominating when I was hanging around the SoCal dragstrips.

There is some Glidden stuff in there. 600+ inch big block builds, all the specs on C302 heads, SVO parts to build a street boss replica etc. Very cool stuff. Believe it or not they even had forged piston offerings for 351M and 400 engines.

The biggest thing I found was actually inaccurate info on the 351M/400 (surprise) where they said nothing but the heads interchange. That's partially incorrect.

Weird! Everything but the cranks and pistons interchange between the 351M & the 400.
