1984 CrewCab rear door armrest

Recommended Posts

Hi people!

The last missing items (I think) to complete BigBrother-1984 restoration are the two rear armrests (both LH and RH).

These seem nowhere to be found.

BUT:

I read on the Web that «The 1984/86 F350 Crew Cab rear door armrests are the same as the front door armrests of 1984/89 Escort/Lynx 4 door sedans & station wagons.»

I found one of these on eBay (RH). I ordered it. I'll be able to confirm if this is true when it arrives. It looks almost identical and dimensions are very similar. See pictures of CrewCab ones (found on Web) and my eBay new acquisition.

Any of you had this experience before? If so, does anybody have a LH rear armrest on a shelf?

I hope it works! Please let us know and I'll capture that info for others to use.

Hi!

I received this NEVER USED armrest, and the answer is...... YES! I can confirm that this statement is true!

This "1981 Ford Escort Station Wagon RH Arm Rest" fits perfectly, it is identical to the original rear door Crew Cab ones.

Ford part number = E1FZ-7424140-A6T.

This will enlarge the potential parts stock that fits in some of our Bullnose Crew Cab (at least the 1984 ones).

Now I am chasing for a LH one...

I've moved this thread to the main section where it belongs.

Adding to this thread (site is great BTW).

I have an 85 Crew cab that had no rear armrests. And escort armrests - the part number noted here - are getting hard as pickled chicken lips to find and are expensive if you do.

So I found that a 67 mustang armrest is about same size, same "stitching" pattern but with a slightly different bolt pattern. And there are lots of sources at reasonable prices.

Tack in a piece of sheet metal to an already punched slot on inner door, drill, file, little primer to prevent rust and - new armrest mounts.

Hope this helps someone.

Good to know, thanks!

I remember that I had difficulty to find the Station Wagon Escort ones, took me some time to find the driver's side one.

Your solution is great!
