Ranch Hand
Hello, I'm new to the forum and looking for advice for my 1983 F-150. This pickup was bought by my grandpa to be a ranch pickup in Arizona. He bought it basically new. Not sure what the original engine was, but he really liked his dads 460 engine so he found a 1983 460 and threw it in his f-150. This pickup was used to haul cattle in a 'six horse' horse trailer about 75 miles one way. So to help with the pulling, he slapped a 3/4 ton 8 lug rear end on the back with extra leaf springs and air bags to help with the weight. He used this setup for probably 15yrs until he bought a diesel pickup that could do the job better. Since then it's just been used to drive around town. After sitting for awhile, he gave it to me and my wife to pull a horse every once in awhile. Now i'm looking to change a few things to make it fit our situation a little bit better and hence i'm here to ask a few questions. I'd say this is one of the most jerry rigged bullnose out there. But it defiantly gets the job done!
Rembrant
Welcome aboard. So it's a super cab but also a short wheelbase? They seem to be somewhat uncommon, at least where I live. You've come to the right place for tips and tricks though.
