Grille And Headlight Bezels

The catalog says the black trimmed headlight doors were 80/86, but I suspect it may have been 80/81 and black was replaced by charcoal in 1982 as the corresponding black grille was called “charcoal”. The charcoal grille was what was used on the 82/83 XLS blackout trimmed trucks:

The chrome with black trim headlight doors *were* used from 1980 - 1986. This is what the low trim level trucks with the argent grille used.

The only other model that used the chrome doors with black trim was the Freewheeling package, which was dropped after 1982. These matched the black grille.

The chrome with argent trim headlight doors was used in 1980 and 1981 with the optional chrome grille only.

The chrome with charcoal trim headlight doors was used from 1982 - 1986 with the optional chrome grille only.

The 1982 and 1983 XLS model used a completely [gloss] black grille, and completely [gloss] black headlight doors.
