Jonathan
It's got flats on the body..... why would you even wrench on the nipple? Man, it must be frustrating to keep getting the wrong parts! 😠I hope everything works out this time around, Jonathan. Thanks for your well wishes. I need some better luck with this truck. The instructions for the valve even says not to tighten using the nipple bolt and to use the body.
Jonathan
As typical for part orders with this truck the "new" Fumoto Oil Drain valve I ordered from Amazon was used and damaged with oil on it. I ordered the version with no drain nipple but I got one with the nipple and used. I guess the truck is high enough where the nipple won't matter but they don't have anymore available. So I ordered again but the nipple version. I know some people will have negative things to say about this high quality part but I use Fumoto Oil Drain Valves on all my vehicles with no issues. I enjoy the convenience and have had no leaks or damage during its use for many years. https://amzn.to/3f1SOBc Well Amazon shipped me a new one this time. This one even has packaging and not in a generic plastic bag.
Jonathan
Inline Tube shipped another stainless steel fuel line to me yesterday. This will be my third fuel line. First from LMC was way wrong, first from Inline Tube was half wrong. Will it be correct this time? There is probably a .001% chance it will be correct but lets see if third time is the charm. This shipment includes the following items: Item # Description Qty MISCLINE Rework Line 1 Inline Tube shipped me a replacement line. And the strangest thing happened. IT IS CORRECT! Only took three tries. One with LMC and two with Inline Tube who supplies LMC. I guess the smiley face was a good sign. They fold the fuel line, so I am not sure why they used such a big box this time. Â

I installed the fuel line. Perfect fit! Now I can remove the hard line I added to the fuel tank since this line comes out right in the middle of the tank. The last thing I did was remove my hard line modification and cleaned the sending unit connector one last time. I also gave it some touch up sprays of rust preventer where the hard line was covering the tank. The rubber fuel line will be cut to fit after it is under the car. I wont leave the fuel line that long.

I really like the documentation you have going on. ON a lot of Facebook posts, the buyer has that first set of photos you have then starts asking how big a tire they can fit, or what kinda stereo, or how they gonna build their 460. This revival is showing the real step and frustrations involved and not how to put $3000 worth wheels and tires on a truck that the bed is rusted off of and doesn't run. Well I put it in the oven to set it and it all went well so hopefully it will be fine. I really don't need the heat resistance but the fuel resistance. I cooled the paint between heat cycles as instructed on the can. I used my new battery powered fan that I got on sale at Northern Tool. It comes with the battery. The battery is worth more then the price I paid for the fan alone!

I used STUF Dielectric Waterproofing Grease for the sending unit connection to prevent contamination getting to the connection. Link is provided below. I had some left over from my roof antenna project. I may cut the fuel line even shorter after it is raised up so it is as short as possible. I think I can get to the connection from the stainless steel line without too much difficulty. The vent and fuel line was easy enough but the filler neck was a pain in the butt to slip the rubber hose over the neck when you are working from your back reaching up. https://amzn.to/3bPnjsc

They come straight. I had to use a jack and a 2x4 to help form the shape. I then marked the rub points to install insulation so it is not metal to metal. After I removed the straps after forming I kept the tank held up with ratchet straps so I can treat the bottom with rust preventer where the straps will be and treat the whole bottom. After I install the metal straps and remove the ratchet strap I will spray again where the ratchet strap was. The sun was beating down the whole time. It is getting warmer now summer is almost here. Straps are almost ready. I installed a waterproof EVA foam to insulate it from vibration and rubbing. Link provided below. I will spray the ends that I can't access when it is installed with rust preventer before installing. I am letting the tank set up now since I sprayed the protection on it where the straps will go. https://amzn.to/3oIUK4O Â
