Stucco Bronco in Saskatchewan

OK, back to bullnoses.

It's recovery day!

So, this is the pic from the ad. Truck really is sunk in. Previous owner was kind enough to air up the tires and remove some of the debris. First order of business was to jack up the front wheels, place boards underneath the tires and straighten out the steering path. Fortunately, the keys were in the ignition.

Access was easy, could line up the trailer straight in and it was just beside his graveled driveway. This is where the 12K winch comes in. # out of 4 tires still turned, LR skidded all the way up the trailer.

Turns out there were some rail ties stuck underneath the truck. No problem with that winch!

Loaded up and tied down for the trip.

Drive home was uneventful except for turning off his narrow driveway with steep ditches. Dropped the L trailer wheels off the edge of the road and thought for a second that I was going to flip the whole works. Luck was with me and I managed to navigate that hazard.

The plate on the truck indicates it was last licensed in 2004, 14 years ago. This was his parent's farm and his mother was telling me how he had driven it to that spot against her wishes, but after looking at it for so many years, she may miss it. Turns out the previous owner also had a 14 year old daughter who was somewhat peeved with him for selling "her" truck. I suppose there is some history to all this. He also was telling me about all the calls he was getting on the truck from people who assumed they could just plate the truck and drive it home. High expectations for $250. I did bargain with him and got the truck for $200. That's all in Canadian dollars folks, roughly 75% of USD value. Probably spent just as much on fuel getting it home.

So, it's in it's new home and likely final resting place. I'm going to part this out. Grill and hood are destined for my Frankentruck.

It has some company. Here's a couple scenery shots.

I'd love to have that truck. For free!

I actually have a very nice flatdeck that needs a home and I've been looking for an 86 or earlier F250. Here in Saskatchewan we have a very good rate on registering a vehicle 87 or earlier as "antique". Really nothing more than basic liability, registration and $800 limit on value, (with a $700 deductible). No mileage limits or other restrictions all for about $150 a year. You can buy extensions to this insurance with what they call a "package policy".

685 km from me, all on a good highway.

Of course, I already have way too many projects.

Thanks, Ray

I knew it was a long way from you, but figured it worth posting for SK content and comedic value;).

Geography is always a problem for us....the country is too darn big!

There is a Bullnose on PEI that I want to go see, but it's at the opposite end of the island from where the bridge is. As the crow flies, it's probably 150 kms away. If I take the ferry, it might be 200 km, but the crossing schedule is really inconvenient. If I take the bridge, it's 400 km away. Bugger.

Of course, I already have way too many projects.

Ray,

I know this one is quite a ways east of you, but looks like it would be a real nice Bullnose interior for somebody.

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?adId=1412594010&requestSource=b

Woodgrain panels, factory tach, Air Conditioning, etc.

I wish it was closer to me. A part out like this would get much of the stuff required to swap in AC, which is REALLY hard to find stuff out east.

It appears to have the early factory alloy wheels.
