Cruise control

Recommended Posts

Maybe, depending on what you are asking. If I remember correctly, speed control was introduced in 1981, so your '80 probably doesn't have it. But I believe the rest of the wiring is the same.

Maybe I am confused ....is this the cruise control components?

If it is, then what I was asking is. will my CC harness plug right into my 1980 control harness. Sorry I bought a complete column from an 86 sight unseen. Just wondering if it would be minimal mods to make it work.

Those are speed control components. Are they on the '80? I'm confused with the situation, so maybe you can try one more time to help me understand?

I probably won't be able to explain any better Gary, but I can try. The truck's steering wheel and column was destroyed, blinker, key switch, and wheel are all tore up. I bought a bunch of parts off an 1986 f250, I haven't looked at the harness on either assembly yet. I was asking if the harness would need any modifications on my part or will the column harness plug directly into the existing truck harness.

Sorry if it is still confusing, I guess I will find out for myself when I tear into that truck in the future.

If the speed control components are already on the '80, then the harness is already there and the column should plug right in.

1980 trucks are a special breed since the early ones are wired a bit differently than the later ones and the rest of the Bullnose era. But if yours has speed control it probably is of the later variety and you should be good.

Thanks Gary, I think it's an 80 perhaps it is an 81? I really should check on all this before I ask you guys questions.

I skimmed over the parts this morning that I bought months ago and noticed some other differences with my door locks. The 80 doors don't have locking knobs on the top of the sill and the 86 does, but I don't think that will be a problem

It is an '80 or '81 as they had slide door locks. See this: http://www.garysgaragemahal.com/door-locks.html

Yes, it has the slide locks on the truck. I guess I better peruse this site better before asking anymore questions.

There are well over 400 pages, and many of those have several tabs. That could take a while. So ask questions as it is faster. :nabble_smiley_good:

But give us all the info you can when you ask. And, more in your sig wll probably help at some point.
