PetesPonies Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 Frames are the same distance apart . . I know they changed the style of the bumper, but I can't see any reason a Bullnose Contour style rear bumper wouldn't fit a 1996 ?? Any thoughts? I also like to mix and match to get the style I'm looking for if anyone remembers my builds. So . . ?
ArdWrknTrk Posted September 15, 2020 Posted September 15, 2020 I'm pretty sure the brackets changed too. About the time the front of the frame rails got the 'crush zone' But there's nothing special about the brackets, and they are available.

Brutus has a back bumper from an 88, its the exact same setup. cant say for anything past 91 though

Yeah I figure you need the correct bracket to fit the bumper, especially a contour since they use different brackets anyway.

86 12 Brutus Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Everything lists 87-96 ( 97 with the 250/350 ) This is a rear bumper from an 88 removed from the brackets at the frame and installed on the 86. The Brackets from the 88 are the exact same as the 86. Ours on the 86 were bent so we unbolted them from the frame, pulled the whole thing ( which is much easier ) and it bolted right up

PetesPonies Posted September 17, 2020 Author Posted September 17, 2020 Rear bumpers all interchange from 1980-1997. I that is what I figured, but they aren't sold that way :) I want to use a Styleside Contour bumper on a '96. Contours are sold for up to '86 only, as that is when Ford stopped using them. But I wanted to make sure before I bought one. Would anyone have an idea about the front? Would a Brick front bumper fit the 92-96 F150? Both wrap around the fender, unlike the Bullnose. I'm guessing the curve to the grille area on the 92-96 would't work well with the Brick bumper.

The front is going to be different 80 to 86, 87 to 91, then 92 to 96. I know for a fact the 87 thru 96 will not fit 80 to 86, the bolts are in a different place. That and the shape of the bumper is different.
