Machspeed Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 I was rear ended several years back and insurance bought me a cheesy rear bumper which I really hate. Should not have allowed them to put that junk on my truck. Anyway, in time want to replace the rear bumper and am looking for a quality unit. Recommendations please? Also, I have been towing off that rear bumper and have long needed a receiver hitch. Thinking I may scrounge around the local salvage yards for a unit. May look at bumpers too. This said what years F150 are interchangeable with our Bullnose Trucks? Thanks!!!
old55pete Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 John, Im not really sure what you have for a rear bumper. Cheap junk? LMC lists the chrome rear step bumper that pretty well matches the rear bumper on my Bronco the difference is that mine has the rubber strips in the middle and the one they list does not, and from what I can see in your pictures, yours does not have the strips on the front. As for a receiver hitch, I would highly recommend buying a new one. I have seen way to many come out of a junk yard that had broken or cracked mounting ears and the cross tube cracked from being over loaded or misused some how. Not many people will weld on them because of liability, I am one of them.
ArdWrknTrk Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 John, Ask yourself how much tongue and trailer weight you could consider hauling. If you go to U-haul or Reese websites you can see the range of years that take the same model number hitch. Though I would say '80-'95 are probably all the same. Back in the day companies like Fey and Westin had different bumpers available for these trucks. But I don't see them manufacturing them any more. Lack of demand means it isn't worthwhile to even keep the jigs and dies around. Plenty of custom bumper companies around, but the styling, cost and shipping is likely a turnoff to you. There was mention the other day of a bumper builder in Atlanta, in regard to Gary's bumper design for Big Blue. You could probably follow the link and get an idea for your truck.

Steve, probably right about buying new. I'll probably do that. I'll continue to look for a good quality bumper. I suspect, as you said Jim, that 80-95 are the same.
