Ford F834
The ATS 088 aftermarket turbo kit is common, but not very good. The AR ratio is huge, and by now many of the cast iron up pipe slip joints are worn and leaky and there isn’t a lot you can do about it. Since the turbo isn’t pedestal mounted, you can’t mount any other T3/T4 platform turbo. You must use the existing (huge AR) exhaust housing which also limits you to turbo’s with a P trim exhaust wheel.... until now. Justin at IDI performance has engineered a stage 1 (Borg Warner SX-E 257) drop in upgrade that will soon be available. 👏 https://www.facebook.com/1204557403016517/posts/2849800198492221?d=n&sfns=mo
grumpin
Cool! Nice to see they are still supporting those engines.
Gary Lewis
That's great! It is good that there is some support, and if I had an IDI I'd be quite interested.
Ford F834
That's great! It is good that there is some support, and if I had an IDI I'd be quite interested. What is nice about this is that it supports the engine platform in a way that puts it within reach for more owners. He already makes a good drop in upgrade for the ATS 093 (factory turbo kit) and three levels of kits with custom pipes. While this drop in upgrade certainly isn’t inexpensive, the lion’s share of the price is the Borg Warner SXE unit itself and the custom fabrication is very reasonable for what it is (and a really great alternative for those who can’t afford one of his header type kits). This is a really nice offering considering how many of the marginal ATS 088 kits there are out there...
