That's a great idea. As for all the wiring, that's where things start getting tricky. But it looks like you have that sorted. Yeah - didn't want to risk any wiring rubbing against the threads since it's going to be packed in there. Going to install some nyloc nuts on the inside and then wing nuts on the outside to sandwich the back wall of the cubby so the panel should be pretty well secured.
