TPS for 1985.5 F150 5.0 efi

Maybe. The "A" in the part # (E6AZ-9B989-C) means it is for an automobile. So your part number would start with a prefix of TZ. Having said that, it might work.

However, we can probably find the exact right replacement. What we need is the Calibration #. In the pic below you can see the Calibration No. of 5-53D-R01. You should have a label, as explained here, so if you can find it I can give you the Calibration Parts List that will have the TPS number as well as several other things.

But, if you can't find it then we may get lucky and spot it in the list of ~700 other codes. Note that this one is for 8 Cyl, 302 (E.F.I.) C.I.D. (5.0L)

1985 F150 - - 2/W/D—W/Hi—altitude carb.

1985 F150 - - 4/W/D-M/T

1985 U150 - - M/T

So, if that describes your truck, and I can't tell from the brief signature, then we have it. If not, please tell me and I'll look.

Hi Gary -

Let me find the information I saved on the calibration numbers. You had explored this for me a few years ago when trying to help me match-up a PCM. There is no readable tag on the doorframe any longer, or at least what remains of it is totally unreadable. I have that information saved. I will find it and get back to you.

As always, Thanks!!

Steve - I thought this sounded familiar. But the tag should be on the engine, like on the valve cover. Anyway, if you can find it we can nail it. Otherwise we'll retrace our tracks.

Hi Gary -

There's nothing remaining on the valve covers. But I found the documents from before. The calibration number is 5-54Q-RO1.

Thanks!!

Also, when we find it I'll put your calibration information on my webpage in the Windsor tab here? I wouldn't put your name on the page, but others could use it and you'd have easy access to it.

That's great!

AllData is giving me the E6TZ-A as the replacement for 1985-1986 5.0L EFI engines. The later models go to E7TZ-D for all except 6 cyl and 460. I have not had good luck with non-Motorcraft TPS units on the early EFI systems. Good luck with it! I just found a couple on eBay, googled the Motorcraft number and they came up. Here is a good current listing: https://www.ebay.com/p/Throttle-Position-Sensor-Motorcraft-CX-1126/75715337
