Gary Lewis
Saw this on FB this morning and thought y'all might enjoy it. This was included as an explanation: This Super 8 Sound movie was shot in late 1982 or early 1983. The clip starts with a hirail trip across a lengthy timber trestle at Mineral City, Ohio. An interesting scene shows the transition from hirail mode to roadway mode on this 1983 Ford F250 pickup truck. The next scene is hirailing westbound on the B&O mainline across northern Ohio; I believe we began the trip west of Warwick, Ohio. Sanibel Dude discusses the first weigh-in-motion scale installed on Chessie System. We then have a series of close-up action shots of the hirail system, beginning with first the front wheel and then the back wheel. We pass a support yard, whose location Sanibel Dude will have to advise me of, and then Sanibel Dude contacts the dispatcher on a line phone to ask for additional track time. The film concludes with a shot of Sterling Tower.

reamer
Filmed On Railroad Driving That was great! By that time, the government created "Conrail" had already taken over the east coast railroads from the disastrous Penn Central. PC only lasted 10 years...
