Vic Roma
Does anyone know how to track down the accessory part number for a Ford one of these?
Gary Lewis
I don't know if Ford offered anything like those. They don't seem to be in the 1986 Accessories catalog, although I may have missed them. And a search of the master parts catalog didn't turn them up either, although "thingy" may not be the proper spelling.

salans7
Found a picture on Google, but the link was dead unfortunately... Bill (NumberDummy) mentioned in a thread on FTE that these were aftermarket and not offered byt Ford. Here's some Ford Motorsport ones. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Ford-Door-Lock-Guards-by-3M/333489894289?hash=item4da58bf391:g:c3oAAOSwjG5duuy7

Thanks for the feedback. I found no Ford examples on Google Images, only ones for (what’s a) Chevy. I’m thinking it was an OEM accessory but one like you find at the checkout of a parts counter, like next to the bowl of candy, passable paraphernalia just for the sake of slapping on another Ford badge on a bare part of the vehicle. And yet, I’d like two!

On this eBay listing (https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F113905764611): you can see on the doors the key scratch guard thingy (or thingey): Any more information about this elusive part is greatly appreciated. Danny G
I found NumberDummy’s reference: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1584205-ford-door-lock-guards.html#post18669797 They make that clear peel and stick vinyl armor now for like rockers and stuff.. I wonder if that could be used in this application.
