Does anyone make the correct 80-86 bronco seat upholstery?

Recommended Posts

I bought another set of low back bucket seats the other day, now that I have two sets, I'll probably put them in the bronco in the spring, and replace the bench seat I have in the middle row. The red set is from a 78-79 that was being parted out, and the blue set is from the 1985 Bronco that I used to own. It was being parted out on craigslist, and I bought the seats and front bumper back.

I can't find anyone who makes the right seat upholstery kits, everything out there is listed for 78-86, but all of the seat covers look like they were made for 78-79s. Technically they seat covers will fit, since the bucket seat frames and hardware did not change, but they just don't look quite right. I also haven't been able to find anyone who sells the foam for either set of years.

I looked at their site, and it looks like they don't sell pre-made seat covers, and their searchable index only goes up to 1978. It looks like they do sell the right vinyl I need, but I would definitely have to bring the seats to a upholstery shop then.

Yes, unfortunately SMS is just fabric, you have to get it made into covers 😔

I haven't bought these or seen these in person, but look pretty close.

Over the restoration years, I have bought from SMS. Factory material can be very pricey, but when you want it . . .

As for the link I supplied . .its worth investigating whether they would make something with your choice of material. I have called manufacturers before, bypassing the distributor and talking to the actual people. I've had mixed reviews doing this . .but again, f it is what you want . . . .
